Job Description
As the Museum Custodianwith the Dayton Art Institute, you will perform a variety of custodial-related tasks necessary in the operation of the museum including, but not limited to maintaining the upkeep of the building and grounds for cleanliness according to the Museum's "Photo-Ready" standards; maintaining inventory of supplies; helping set-up/clean-up for meetings and events.
The successful candidates are expected to be self-starters, good managers of time, comfortable in crowds, able to work independently, and follow the Museum's standards for safety and conduct. Full-time and part-time (20–30 hours) positions are available. Must be able to work evenings, weekend hours and some holidays.
Other requirements of this position include:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Minimum of three (3) years related experience performing janitorial, custodial, or housekeeping duties, or interior maintenance.
- Knowledge of floor care practices, procedures, and equipment strongly desired.
- Knowledge of materials, chemicals, and equipment used in a cultural institution and safety practices in janitorial and housekeeping work.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Maintain consistent movement throughout the museum; Inspect and maintain equipment and supplies.
- Communicate information and ideas; convey and express accurate information.
- Move objects weighing up to 45 lbs.
- Comfortable working indoor and outdoor.
- Knowledge of American Sign Language and/or multilingual a plus.
