SUMMARY
Live on site and serve as caretaker for the buildings, grounds, and assets. . Provides superior customer service to all museum guests. Responsible for cleanliness of buildings and general lawn maintenance of the grounds.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Includes the following:
- Resides on premises.
- Presents demonstrations, talks to the public and conducts tours.
- Opens and closes the property as assigned and is responsible for staffing museum when open.
- Maintains and cleans property; performs lawn care, as needed.
- Notifies management in a timely manner of necessary repairs and reports any emergency repair situations.
- This position is required to maintain their personal residency on the property.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY/MANAGEMENT AUTHORITY
Manage multiple projects without having direct supervisory responsibilities.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Associates Degree in marketing, communications, or other related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Knowledge and interest in Cherokee history and culture.
- Excellent public speaking skills. Excellent self-motivation and organizational skills.
- Ability to deliver a presentation to a live audience.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to understand and follow written and oral instruction and effectively communicate and relay information.
- Ability to effectively organize and creatively present materials to guests.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work will be performed in a variety of settings, including, climate-controlled office settings and/or outdoors in all types of weather including heat, humidity, rain, cold, etc. Moderate physical activity required including standing and or walking for more than 4 hours a day.
