Multidisciplinary Team Coordinator


The mission of BraveBe Child Advocacy Center is to respond to child abuse through a team approach designed to reduce trauma, seek justice, and provide hope and healing for children and their families.

 

SUMMARY OF THE POSITION

The Multidisciplinary Coordinator promotes and coordinates a comprehensive, Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) response for youth involved in allegations of abuse or neglect.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

Review Reports

  • Review all accepted reports of child abuse and neglect in BraveBe’s 17 county service area as they are received by the NDHHS Hotline. Ensure applicable reports are included on team agendas and case lists.

 

Coordinate Response

  • Work closely with law enforcement and NDHHS to coordinate the response for those cases under Nebraska Revised Statute 28-728 to 28-731 flagged for a child advocacy center response.
  • Contact the assigned Multidisciplinary Team members regarding the utilization of a child advocacy center per state statute.
  • Promote the utilization of BraveBe Child Advocacy Center in accordance with team protocols and Nebraska Revised Statute 28-728 to 28-731.

 

Facilitate Case Review

  • Work closely with the county attorney’s office in facilitating the multidisciplinary investigative and treatment team case review. Case review may include active child abuse investigations, DHHS non-court involved cases, and community referrals.
  • Prepare and distribute agendas for the Multidisciplinary Team
  • Summarize and distribute the decisions and action plans of the Multidisciplinary Team
  • Update and maintain case tracking system as needed
  • Provide statistical data as requested
  • Model facilitation skills for the Multidisciplinary Team without driving meeting outcomes and keep the process solution focused
  • Promote effective communication, coordination, and accountability across agency lines
  • Work with Multidisciplinary Teams to address issues as they arise to resolve conflict

 

Update Interagency Agreements and Team Protocols

  • Maintain and update written interagency agreements designed to formalize cooperation and commitment to CAC/MDT policy ensuring continuity of practice. The interagency agreement must be signed by the leadership of participating agencies and reviewed annually and re-executed upon change in practice, policy or current agency leadership as outlined in the National Children’s Alliance Standards for Accredited Members
  • Maintain and update written protocols that address the functions of the Multidisciplinary Team, the roles and responsibilities of each discipline, and their interaction with BraveBe Child Advocacy Center. Protocols are developed with input from the Multidisciplinary Team, reviewed minimally every 3 years, and updated as needed to reflect current practice as outlined in the National Children’s Alliance Standards for Accredited Members

 

Provide Opportunities for Feedback and Ongoing Training

  • Provide routine opportunities for Multidisciplinary Team members to give feedback and suggestions regarding the procedures and operations of the CAC/MDT
  • Utilize the Outcome Measurement Survey (OMS) twice a year in an effort to seek feedback and develop an action plan for continuous improvement
  • Work closely with the Director of Training & Community Engagement to provide relevant training or other educational opportunities the MDT focused on issues relevant to investigation, prosecution, and treatment for children and their non-offending caregivers

 

Work as Part of Multidisciplinary Team

  • Foster open and positive relationships with law enforcement, NDHHS, prosecuting attorneys, social service agencies, medical and mental health professionals and other public and private agencies while promoting best practices for child abuse investigations and treatment.

 

Ongoing Professional Development

  • Demonstrate participation in ongoing education in the field of child maltreatment consisting of a minimum of 8 contact hours every 2 years.

 

Leadership and Collaboration

Leadership exists within all levels of our organization.  The MDT Coordinator is expected to ensure culturally competent services are provided to all families served without regard to race, ethnicity, religion, socioeconomic status, disability, gender< or sexual orientation.  The MDT Coordinator must comply with the policies and procedures of BraveBe Child Advocacy Center.  The MDT Coordinator must promote a positive image of BraveBe Child Advocacy Center in the community and participate in special events and fundraising efforts.

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

The employee customarily and routinely exercises discretion and judgment in the performance of his or her duties and regularly supervises volunteers and interns.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

Education:  A bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, human services, criminal justice or related field is required; a master’s degree is preferred. 

 

Experience:  Two years of professional experience working with children and families who have either experienced or witnessed trauma is required.  Two years of professional experience in working with the criminal justice or child welfare system as a member of a Multidisciplinary Team is also required.  Experience in designing and facilitating training opportunities for professionals is preferred.

 

OTHER

Exempt employees must be able to work flexible hours.  Evening and weekend hours may be required.  All employees must have access to a vehicle, possess a valid driver’s license and provide proof of insurance.  The position does involve extensive travel throughout Lincoln and Southeast Nebraska with mileage reimbursement.  All employees must submit to a criminal history background check prior to being hired and annually at the time of their performance evaluation.
