This position earns a competitive wage of $800.00/day minimum (for out-of-state inspections), depending on experience. The position is non-exempt- roaming/part-time/on-call field work.

A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A MULTI-FAMILY PROPERTY CONDITION INSPECTOR

As a Multi-Family Property Condition Inspector at Tribal One Architecture & Engineering, you will be traveling on short site visits to in- and out-of-state rural multi-family properties to evaluate the condition of the property building interiors, exteriors, units, roofs, amenities, mechanical systems, and grounds to identify and report observed Health & Safety issues and Deferred Maintenance findings.

With an agile team supporting you, you will perform field work to collect data on Property Conditions, including inspecting, measuring, categorizing and photographing property elements efficiently and accurately. You will record Property Condition information and enter it into a MS Excel form in accordance with provided resources and guidelines.

You will interact with property managers and maintenance staff, along with other members of the project team, communicate effectively in verbal and written form with administrative staff, appraisal staff, supervisors, and managers, including establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with supervisors, other employees, governmental agencies, professionals and the public. You must be able to work independently in an efficient and organized manner and meet deadlines and goals. Additional duties may be assigned as determined by management depending on the project or the office requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS FOR A MULTI-FAMILY PROPERTY CONDITION INSPECTOR

  • Minimum Education or Professional Certification Requirements as detailed below.
  • Three (3) years of experience performing physical inspections, including a minimum of five (5) physical inspections at Multifamily Properties.
  • Basic knowledge of computer skills, including MS Office applications, email, and file management.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, stay organized and complete assignments in a timely, accurate manner.
  • Ability to travel out of state up to 90% of the time.
  • Required to read reference guides and maps, and operate a computer, tablet and/or cell phone.
  • Requires visits to facilities, negotiating uneven terrain, bending, kneeling and climbing stairs during on-site inspections.
  • Must pass and remain in compliance with drug free workplace policies.
  • Ability to successfully pass and remain in compliance with required background checks from Tribal 1 and any required federal government background checks.
  • The USDA contract requires the individual to be either a citizen of the U.S. or a non-U.S. citizen who has been lawfully admitted for permanent residence as evidenced by a Permanent Resident Card (USCIS I-551).
  • Valid driver's license.


Qualified Multi-Family Property Condition Inspectors must possess or have successfully completed, or be willing to obtain at least one (1) of the following current professional certifications, registrations or training programs:

  • Bachelor of Science degree or 2-year associate degree program in engineering, architecture, construction management, historic preservation, construction/building science or building facilities management.
  • Common ground University's Property Condition Assessment online course offered by EDR.
  • The Mortgage Bankers Association (MBA) Property Inspection Risk Management course offered by the MBA.
  • Real Estate Assessment Center (REAC) for the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) as a Certified Home Inspector.
  • Building Performance Institute (BPI).
  • American Society of Home Inspectors (ASHI).
  • International Association of Certified Home Inspectors (InterNACHI).
  • Minimum 12 years assessing multifamily properties and preparation of ASTM E2018 compliant reports.
  • Other Fannie Mae approved professional certifications, registrations or training.
