Description
Bus Driver/Janitor - GLCAP Shiloh - 40 hours/week, Daily split shift.
Summary: Responsible for providing safe and timely transportation of children for program activities in the MSHS program in compliance with state, federal and local requirements. Performs custodial duties to ensure a safe and clean environment for staff, children, and families.

Education:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and CDL with School Bus Endorsement.
Experience:
One to three years' experience transporting children and up to one year cleaning experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
As a condition of employment the following are additional requirements:
  1. Initial and periodic Motor Vehicle Records checks, maintain a valid driver's license, and maintain a safe driving record.
  2. Initial and periodic physical exams required.
  3. Must submit to initial and/or periodic state and/or federal criminal checks.
  4. Must submit to initial and periodic drug and alcohol testing.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Bus Driver
  1. Conduct all required pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicle each day the vehicle is driven. Report suspected problems or concerns immediately to the Support Services Coordinator.
  2. Ensure that emergency supplies and other equipment are maintained and properly stored or mounted in the vehicle in accordance with agency policies and procedures.
  3. Conduct required checks at the end of each run to ensure the bus is empty and that all children are accounted for.
  4. Follow and maintain route schedule. Communicate immediately with staff when a parent is not home or there are problems with the route.
  5. Ensure children are released only to an authorized individual according to agency policies and procedures.
  6. Collaborate with bus monitor to ensure children are following safe riding practices and procedures on and off the bus.
  7. Maintain accurate records regarding the vehicle and the children who are being transported.
  8. Maintain a safe and clean environment inside and outside the bus through regular cleanings.
  9. Attends annual classroom instruction and behind-the-wheel instruction to ensure safe and efficient vehicle operation and transportation of children.

Janitor
  1. Maintain building and grounds; ensure they are clean and safe.
  2. Clean and sanitize classrooms, offices, bathrooms and other common spaces.
  3. Provide routine maintenance and repair of buildings and equipment.
  4. Provide outdoor tasks such as snow removal, mowing, trimming of shrubs and trees, and sweeping up debris.
  5. Maintain supply inventory; request cleaning supplies as needed.
