Summary: The MRI Technologist is responsible to accurately and safely performs examinations utilizing MRI equipment to locate, evaluate and record critical functional, pathological, and anatomical data. Communicates findings to Radiologists as appropriate.
This will be achieved by performing the following duties.
Essential Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Obtains the highest-quality MR imaging possible, assuring the anatomical area of interest is imaged as completely as possible.
- Demonstrates skill and proficiencies in the use of sensitive MRI equipment to obtain accurate and meaningful results, reviews referring physician orders and any additional medical history obtain patient’s history and shows the correlation of the clinical history with the anatomy covered on the MRI examination.
- Prior to allowing anyone to enter the MRI exam room(s), carefully and completely screens all patients, and others entering the MRI scan room(s), for any safety issues and contraindications with regard to the specifics of being in a strong magnetic field.
- Verifies patient identification by asking patient, or family member if applicable, complete name, date of birth, reasons for examination/procedure and area to be examined. For inpatients from the hospital, also verify information on the patient’s identification bracelet.
- Demonstrates computer literacy and skills with the proficient use of PAC and RIS systems, and other systems as required.
- Ensures equipment calibration by performing quality control tests according to established procedures and frequency schedule.
- Practices sterile and isolation techniques resulting in the prevention of cross-contamination and infection.
- Maintains a high quality of patient care.
- Print CDs or film when necessary.
- Communicates in a positive and timely manner with co-workers, physicians, patients, and visitors.
- Maintains equipment and orders supplies when needed
- Ensure compliance with State and Federal regulations.

- Education and/or Experience and Licensure: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); successful completion of MR educational program and current licensing, and two years related experience and/or training in outpatient Radiology.
