Job Summary
The MRI Technologist is responsible for performing high-quality diagnostic imaging procedures in an Orthopedic outpatient setting. The MRI Technologist will prepare patients for MRI procedures, appropriately screen for patient safety, and answering any questions. Must be comfortable working independently with a positive attitude. This person will collaborate with radiologists, ordering Physicians and other healthcare professionals to ensure accurate diagnosis and treatment planning. Must demonstrates an adequate knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy and physiology. The MRI technologist will performs daily Quality Assurance tests on equipment. This individual will ensure adherence to company policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance programs and safety standards while following ACR guidelines.
This position will be 4, 10 hour shifts. No weekends, nights, or holidays required.
Siemens and Orthopedics experience preferred.
Job Responsibilities
- Operates MRI equipment related to patient care imaging, image processing, image transmission, image archiving, and computerized electronic medical records.
- Provides radiologists and physicians with patient history relative to exam being performed and obtains informed consent
- Participates in the department and modality specific quality improvement initiatives, including ACR accreditation.
- Consistently demonstrates proficiency in performing MRI examinations using appropriate standardized protocols to produce the highest quality images, evaluating images for technical quality prior to sending to picture archiving and communication system for interpretation by radiologists.
- Uses critical thinking principles in making decisions which lead to desired outcomes while participating in the achievement of organizational and department goals by following OrthoAtlanta and departmental policies.
- Adheres to all MRI safety guidelines, practices, and policies, taking into consideration potential magnetic field interactions of ferromagnetic objects in the MRI environment.
- Practices proper safety techniques in accordance with departmental policies and procedures. Responsible for the reporting of employee/patient/visitor injuries or accidents, or other safety issues to the supervisor and in the occurrence notification system.
- Monitors and ensures compliance with all regulatory requirements, organizational standards, and policies and procedures related to area of responsibility. Identifies potential risk areas within area of responsibility and supports problem resolution process. Maintains records of compliance activities and reports compliance activities to Chief Technologist.
- Follows the ARRT Standards of Ethics.
- Attends and/or completes educational requirements, to maintain licensure.
- Other duties may be assigned.
Job Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited radiologic technology program, ARRT registered with advanced certificate in MRI, or obtained within 6 months of hire.
- One to three years of experience directly related to duties and responsibilities specified.
- Current BLS for Healthcare Providers Certification
