Job Title: MRI Advanced Specialist (31504039)

Location: Houston , TX 77030

Job Type: 03 Months contract

Shift: 11 a.m. to 7:30 p.m

Duties: "The MRI Advanced Specialist is a critical thinker who uses technical, leadership, educational, quality and regulatory knowledge to organize the activities for timely and high quality delivery of patient care during routine and complex exam completion. Performance of exceptional quality routine and specialized MRI procedures at the request licensed independent practitioner

for interpretation by radiologists. The MRI Advanced Specialist integrates scientific knowledge; technical skills, patient interaction and compassionate care resulting in diagnostic information, and recognizes patient conditions essential for successful completion of the procedure.

  • Supervises Routine and Specialized examinations, assigns tasks, and inspects completed work to ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, local, institutional and departmental standards, rules and laws. Ensures required PAR level inventory in on hand to ensure adequate stock is available to facilitate continuous exam flow. Through planning, avoids costly rush orders. Shortages and/or overages of supplies are to be managed with Supply Chain, and par levels to be adjusted accordingly.
  • Actively manages workflow in communication with nursing, anesthesia and other impacted parties.
  • Schedules and documents preventative maintenance for equipment. Ensures impact to patients and operations are minimized by thorough timely communication of event with staff, physicians and other critical customers.
  • Performs daily documented team huddles.
  • Works with team to ensure 5S principles are embedded into operations and that gains are sustained. Works with manager, IT and others to update IMG codes to reflect current billing standards reflective of CPT and ICD-10 codes.
  • Accurately and independently performs procedures, identifies and resolves issues. Seeks experiences and knowledge in the technical area to gain expertise. Shares knowledge with others.
  • Recognizes signs and symptoms of an emergency, and initiates emergency procedures.
  • Responsible for quality control activities on the equipment and collaborates with appropriate parties to resolve image quality issues.
  • Reports all equipment issues to Bio-Med as issues are observed and follows up with manager or designee within one hour.
  • Assists other employees in troubleshooting exam problems, errors and performance of work load in order to meet established turnaround times.
  • Ensures all non-MRI personnel and visitors are prescreened prior to entry into Zones III & IV.
  • Fetal MRI experience a plus! ; Philips Ingenia experience a Plus!
  • 11 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.
  • ARRT MRI and Texas Medical Board

Skills: Knowledge of MRI physics and procedures; understanding of MRI principles that are developmentally appropriate for ages 0 – adulthood.

" Operation of all required equipment including troubleshooting when necessary of the equipment, including automated processors, copying/digitizing film equipment, R.I.S., and PACS.

  • Basic life support and medical terminology understanding is required.
  • Required for completely satisfactory performance in this job is the successful demonstration of the professional fundamental competencies.
  • Must be articulate, courteous and supportive in dealing with patients, parents, nursing, faculty, administrative and departmental personnel so that excellent customer service and positive guest relations are achieved.
  • Must honor confidentiality, independently scan patients by following the established protocols, demonstrate excellent verbal and written skills, and utilize basic office equipment; such as fax"

Education: "Required- Technical diploma Graduate of a formal diagnostic Radiology program"

"Education substitutions for experience:

A Bachelor’s degree in any radiology or healthcare field of study may substitute for one (1) year of the required experience.

A Master’s degree in any radiology or healthcare field of study may substitute for two (2) years of the required experience."

"Required- MR-ARRT - ARRT RegTech Mag Reson Imaging , American Registry of Radiologic Technologists"

Required- 6 years Radiology experience (any/all modalities)
