The City of Valdez Civic Center is hiring for Movie and/or Operations Staff. This position works under supervision of the Civic Center Movie & Event Technician or their designee.
This is a temporary, non-benefited position working primarily on weekends and evenings. Rate of pay begins at $16.07 per hour. Perks include working with an amazing team, popcorn, and pre-screening of movies.

- Performs event set-up and tear down of equipment and furniture.
- Performs clean up of events, including janitorial duties as directed.
- Performs set up and tear down of basic sound reinforcement systems and theatrical lighting systems as directed.
- Performs ticket sales, concession sales, usher duties, and restocking.
- Customer service & public interaction with an emphasis on exceptional customer service.
- All related set-up & clean-upas required for movied
- Assumes responsibility for facility and attendee safety during movies & events, including crowd control an deforcing Civic Center Movie policies.
- Follows instruction of supervisors.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Minimum qualifications:
- Must be 16 years of age for movie staff
- Must be over 21 years of age for event staff where alcohol is present
- Must have high school diploma or GED for event staff

Knowledge, skills, and other characteristics:
- Working knowledge of all Civic Center policies and procedures. *
- Basic knowledge of catering systems, policies and procedures. *
- Basic knowledge of commercial kitchen equipment. *
- Working knowledge of all equipment used for events: tables, chairs, audio/visual equipment, portable staging, portable dance floors, and other equipment used for room set ups. *
- Working knowledge of all equipment used for movies: concessions equipment, cash register, janitorial equipment, computerized ticketing system and projection as it relates to movies. *
- Skilled in practicing work safety.
- Ability to follow directions and work independently.
- Ability to visually operate a variety of equipment.
- Ability to verbally communicate and enforce Civic Center policies and procedures clearly and concisely. *
- Ability to assist facility clients with equipment use. *
- Ability to provide friendly, efficient customer service at all times.
- Ability to perform job duties in a mature and professional manner which reflects positively on the Civic Center and the City of Valdez.

Physical requirements and work environment:
- Frequent walking, standing, & bending fir extended periods of time.
- Climb stairs & ladders frequently.
- Ability to lift 50 pounds to manipulate staging, dance floors and other heavy equipment.
- Verbally communicate and enforce Civic Center policies and procedures clearly and concisely.
