About Centria Healthcare:

Centria Autism is the largest provider of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) across the state of Michigan, with services in 10 other states. Our mission is to help every child living with autism to develop, pursue and achieve their own goals and dreams through high-quality ABA Therapy and support.

Position Description:

Under the direct supervision of a Board-Certified Behavior Analyst or Behavior Consultant (BCBA/BC), the Behavior Technician Specialist will provide individual treatment for children and adolescents with Autism Spectrum Disorder using Applied Behavior Analysis. They will implement learning programs (i.e., communication, self-help, play skills), collect data on target behaviors, incorporate parent training, maintain client confidentiality, and meet with their direct leader regularly. In addition to their duties as a Behavior Technician, the Behavior Technician Specialist will assist in increasing the consistency of therapy and reducing client attrition by providing experienced coverage for other BT's in the event of call-offs, vacations, and staffing changes.

Responsibilities:

Provide direct client care in 1:1 and group settings.

  • Follow the prescribed behavioral skill acquisition and behavior reduction protocols.
  • Collect, record, and summarize data on observable client behavior.
  • Ensure documentation is completed on time and following established Centria procedures.
  • Effectively communicate with parents and caregivers regarding client progress as instructed by Supervising Clinician (BCBA/BC).
  • Utilize safe and appropriate handling procedures when working with clients and appropriately report all critical incidents and safety concerns.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work and therapy environment.
  • Assist Supervising Clinician preparation of client materials, behavior reduction assessments, and skills acquisition.
  • Maintain compliance and acquire technical knowledge by attending/completing required training and meetings.

Provide Behavior Technician coverage in the assigned region by filling in for call-offs, vacations, and terminations.

Improve client outcomes and reduce BT attrition by providing training and support to new Behavior Technicians.

Required Qualifications, Skills, and Knowledge:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Must be QBS trained
  • Technical-level certification (RBT, BCAT, etc.) within 60 days of starting the role, required
  • CPR Certification required
  • First Aid Certification required
  • 1+ years field experience delivering ABA therapy
  • Proven experience and willingness to work with multiple ages and programming needs
  • Ability to accept constructive feedback and develop expertise and skillsets accordingly
  • Ability to follow written instructions
  • Ability to use computers and computer/software programs
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Effective time management skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks at once
  • Ability to develop and maintain professional relationships with clients, co-workers, supervisors, and community members
  • Demonstrated strong work ethic with attention to detail, accuracy and quality

Working Conditions:

Centria's office hours are Monday through Friday from 8:30am-6:00pm, with primary hours conducted after school hours (3:00 pm - 8:00 pm). The work location will vary by client case and include home, community, or center. Additional time may be required to complete above work or meet company objectives.

Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this job, the team member may be exposed to a client who exhibits physically aggressive behavior, which can include kicking, pinching, punching, biting, etc. The team member may have to use appropriate behavior management techniques with a client under such circumstances. Such a response requires agility, quick reflexes, and the ability to use physically evasive movement. The team member will be required to stand, walk, sit, grasp, reach, bend, kneel, crouch, squat, hear, type, and write. The team member will also be exposed to normal office conditions and usual office equipment such as phone, computer, copiers, files, etc. The team member must be able to independently push, pull, lift, move, and carry objects weighing up to thirty-five (35) lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include near, far, and field of vision.
