POSITION OVERVIEW
The Advance Electrics / Sound Crew Swing will assist the Electrics and Sound Heads in the safe consistent running, moving and maintenance of all lighting and sound elements associated with the Moulin Rouge National Tour. As a Crew Swing, the ideal candidate will be able to learn and run all of the electrics and sound tracks on the show, including sound mixing. Additionally, they will travel ahead of the load in to advance the show. Touring a live theater production is a unique and fast paced environment. You must be able to handle stressful situations and find solutions to problems quickly. The successful candidate for this position will have experience loading shows in and out, have extensive knowledge of theatrical lighting and sound systems, and will be a self-starter.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Job responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Learning and running all electrics and sound show tracks as needed including, Sound Mixer, A2, Deck Electrician, Followspot.
  • Working with the Electrics and Sound team to maintain and repair all show equipment to the highest standards.
  • Working with the Electrics and Sound teams to manage the local union electrics crew at each show stop.
  • Advancing LX/Sound gear, and work with the rest of the team to load in and tech all electrics and sound gear between tour stops.
  • Regular participation in work calls, and rehearsal as directed by stage management and head carpenter.
  • Arrival on time and ready for work at the start of each call.
  • Sound Mixing for approximately (2) shows per week.
  • Participate in Sound Check at the start of each new city.
  • A eagerness to jump in where necessary to help troubleshooting.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIRED SKILLS
  • Detail-oriented, willing to complete both complex and menial repetitive tasks with exacting precision and a positive attitude.
  • General knowledge of moving light troubleshooting and networking.
  • Ability to lead and instruct a crew of dozens of people with varying skill levels.
  • Excellent computer skills (Mac & PC).
  • Min 1 years' experience working on an IATSE Full Pink Contract.
  • Min 3 years' experience with Sound Mixing.
  • Min 3 years' experience in the electrics department of a touring or Broadway show.
  • Knowledge of or experience in several road venues throughout the country.
  • A working proficiency of Digico SD7 Consoles and Qlab.
