What You'll Do:
Ohio Department of Public Safety - Ohio State Highway Patrol
Report In Location - 1500 Columbus Pike, Delaware 43015 (Delaware County)
Hours Worked: 8:00am to 5:00pm; Working days and hours may vary

- Under direction of Motor Carrier Enforcement Supervisor, enforces commercial motor vehicle laws by independently conducting roadside inspections of commercial motor vehicles & drivers to ensure compliance with federal & state safety regulations.
- Documents & reports economic violations with Public Utilities Commission of Ohio (PUCO).
- Investigates assigned complaints regarding violation of PUCO rules & regulations.
- Utilizes portable laptop & other computer equipment.
- Makes on-site recommendation to correct violations.
- Provides assistance where possible.
- Maintains effective public relations with drivers, company representatives, law enforcement officers & others to ensure compliance with state & federal safety.
- Prepares reports reflecting inspection of vehicles & drivers.
- Provides field training & coaching to new inspectors.
- Assists other inspectors, troopers & local law enforcement.
- Prepares & delivers presentations &/or training related to highway safety & compliance with state & federal rules.
- Ensures vehicles & drivers were placed out-of-service & proper corrections were made.
- Testifies in court in regards to violations.
- Assists general public on roadways.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications
6 mos. exp. in enforcing commercial motor vehicle laws or regulations; 1 course or 3 mos. exp. in public relations; valid driver's license.
-Or 6 mos. trg. or 6 mos. exp. in Motor Carrier inspection or commercial vehicle maintenance; 1 course or 3 mos. exp. in public relations; valid driver's license.
-Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications for Employment noted above.
VALID OHIO DRIVER LICENSE REQUIRED
