A day in the life:
  • Organize, examine, and analyze carrier mileage and fuel records and file information to
    determine the accuracy of carrier tax reports and registration applications.
  • Investigate sources of information as required when carrier records are incomplete.
  • Research and interpret laws, rules and international agreements and apply these to motor
    carriers for compliance purposes.
  • Assess under or over-reported taxes and fees and impose penalties for non-compliance.
  • Complete computerized schedules and exhibits, using flow charts, narratives, spreadsheets and
    comparisons to support all fees, late payment, and penalty and interest charges assessed in the
    audit.
  • Document audit findings and recommendations in a clear and concise manner.
  • Interview carriers to determine their system of internal controls for recording, processing and
    reporting vehicle operations.
  • Communicate findings and recommendations to the carrier by fully explaining the audit and
    applicable laws, rules and international agreements.
  • Training is a combination of office and remote work. After training, this position is 80% remote,
    with one day required in the office per week.
  • Overnight in and out-of-state travel for up to nine weeks a year is routine, and may require to be
    away from home up to two weeks at a time. Travel may be by air or automobile and will range
    from all parts of the U.S to Canada.

What we need:
Four years of experience doing administrative research that included compiling and evaluating facts to recommend management action, or decide compliance with program guidelines and regulations. Two of the four years must be above the technical support level.
Note: college-level course work may substitute for experience on the basis of 45-quarter units per year, up to a maximum of three years.
Special Qualifications:
  • Driving is an essential function of this position. You must have a valid driver license and an acceptable driving record. We will conduct pre-employment driving records checks on our final candidate(s). Your license does not have to be issued in Oregon to be considered.
  • This position requires the ability to obtain a passport or other accepted document that establishes the bearer's identity and nationality to enter or re-enter the United States.
