Mortgage Underwriter

Reports to: Mortgage Underwriting Manager
Location: Any Minnwest branch
Work Arrangement: On-site

Position Summary/Purpose:
Minnwest Bank is seeking an individual for a full-time Mortgage Underwriter position available at any of our branch locations. Evaluate mortgage loans for approval ensuring compliance with internal loan policy, regulatory requirements and investor loan programs through a comprehensive review of all application documents. Review customer financial information, coordinating with Mortgage Bankers and customers as needed. Ensures accuracy of credit files and presentations, mitigates risk, and ensures mortgage loans are originated well for both the internal portfolio and to be sold to the secondary market. Responsible for ensuring all credit and pricing requirements/conditions are met prior to approval and closing.

Minimum Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
• 3 years conventional mortgage underwriting and analyzing customer transactions for loan approval
• Knowledge of complete mortgage lending process
• Understanding of federal lending requirements including RESPA, HMDA, and RegZ
• Able to make decisions in a timely manner
• Problem solver and multi-tasker
• Experience using Word and Excel

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in a finance related field of study
• 5 years conventional mortgage underwriting and analyzing customer transactions for loan approval
• USDA underwriting experience
• DE certification
• VA underwriting experience
• Previous mortgage loan processing experience
• Ability to independently analyze complex financials
• Ability to recommend structure changes to enhance credit quality
• Project Management
• Experience using Byte Pro
• Ability to implement new products/programs, develop written procedures
• Mortgage training experience
