Mortgage Cashiering Specialist
Job Description
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS)
Purpose:
The primary responsibility of the Cashiering Specialist position is to process mortgage payments within the servicing director system and make any necessary adjustments or corrections. The position will require the payment application through various sources including lockbox work queues, tasks, customer requests, mail, internal bank requests, and external partners.
Essential Functions & Duties:
  • Ensure timely and accurate processing of funds received for loan servicing, including but not limited to, mortgagor payments, suspense, liquidations and bankruptcy, foreclosure, and loss mitigation funds.
  • Process and manage daily task
  • Monitor receipt of incoming wires and process funds
  • Research and resolve payment posting discrepancies timely and accurately
  • Perform application reversals as applicable
  • Assist with creating payoff quotes or posting of payoffs funds
  • Complete monetary and non-monetary transactions with Servicing Director
  • Process various liquidation requests like charge offs, write offs, and proceeds
  • Manage various exception and monitory system edit repots
  • Communicate with the accounting team and the servicing team to proper payment of all funds
  • Complete daily cash balancing, payment clearing, and manual reconciliations for end of day balancing
  • Research payment histories received from customers or business partners
  • Assist accounting with all loan reconciliation reports
  • Maintain full compliance with all Regulatory requirements and bank policies and procedures.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESONSIBILITIES
  • Performs other duties as requested by Executive Management or Supervisor.
  • Completes all required compliance exams on a yearly basis.
  • Adherence to all First United Policies and Procedures.
  • Dresses professionally.
  • Recommends to supervisor possible methods to improve department.

Education and Work Experience
Education & Experience Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
  • 5 or more years of Mortgage Cashiering experience required.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Working knowledge of Blacknight/ICE servicing system.
  • Thorough knowledge of Satisfaction requirements for local, state, and federal
  • Ability to effectively comprehend, analyze and explain all aspects of the request process.
  • Ability to maintain accuracy with attention to detail and in accordance with local, state, or federal guidelines.
  • Ability to perform mathematical calculations and work accurately with numbers.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Effective computer skills.
  • Ability to think independently and make appropriate decisions.
  • Ability to perform multiple tasks through effective prioritization and time management and demonstrate attention to details.
