Alice B. is a new restaurant by Mary Sue Milliken and Susan Feniger in Palm Springs with a small, tight-knit group of dedicated individuals that are passionate about food, beverage, and service. We are looking for a dedicated, organized server who enjoys working as part of a team in a fast-paced culinary environment. Due to staffing needs, the server is expected to work weekends, nights, and holidays. Above all, the server will conduct themselves in a way reflecting the culture and philosophy of Alice B.
Job Brief:
We are looking for experienced servers to take food/beverage orders, ensure tables are served, and collect payment. You should be able to thrive within a fast-paced environment and easily work with bussers, chefs, and other restaurant staff. A positive attitude while working under pressure is greatly desired.
Responsibilities:
- Take food and drink orders from customers accurately and with a positive attitude.
- Write patrons' food orders on order slips, memorize orders, or enter orders into computers for transmittal to kitchen staff.
- Engage with customers in a friendly manner.
- Knowledge of the menu, with the ability to make suggestions.
- Ensure tables are enjoying their meals and take action to correct any problems.
- Collect payments from tables.
- Prepare checks that itemize and total meal costs and sales taxes.
- Help food preparation staff when necessary.
- Deliver food orders to a variety of customers in a timely manner.
- Help the wait staff set up tables by placing appropriate tableware, eating utensils, decorations, and napkins.
- Uphold our food health safety and sanitation principles.
- Occasionally check on customers to handle any impromptu requests or issues.
- Remove dirty dishes from the table.
- Inform management on customer feedback.
Requirements:
- Experience providing excellent customer service in a fast-paced environment.
- A positive attitude and ability work well under pressure with bussers, cooks and other staff.
- Able to perform high-quality work while unsupervised.
- Able to handle money accurately and operate a point-of-sale system.
- High school diploma.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced work environment and deliver orders in a timely manner.
