We are currently accepting applications for an American Montessori Society (AMS) or Association Montessori Internationale (AMI) certified primary teacher to join us beginning July 31, 2023. Successful applicants must have an AMS or AMI primary diploma, a bachelor’s degree, an Indiana teacher certificate for the specified age range or the ability to attain one, dedication to Montessori philosophy, strong classroom management skills, the ability to build strong and supportive relationships with parents and fellow staff members, and a love for working with children. Must have satisfactory completion of Safe Hiring Solutions Extended National Criminal History and Indiana DCS check, and must complete tuberculosis test, drug test, fingerprints, and be certified annually in CPR/First Aid. Additional training from Indiana SPARK will be required upon hire. Two or more years of experience is preferred. Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the U.S.
Interested applicants who are not currently AMS certified may apply but will be required to complete a Montessori credential program at Trine University from June-July with class meetings and practicum requirements throughout the year and must commit to staying with the program for five years.
● Coordinate and implement Montessori curriculum by developing classroom activities based on Montessori pedagogy and developmentally appropriate practices.
● Plan individual and group age-appropriate activities to actively engage children and encourage social, cognitive, and emotional growth following the Montessori approach.
● Ensure a healthy classroom environment – including maintaining appropriate hygiene and cleanliness standards and safety and security of children.
● Supervise and collaborate with teacher assistants and classroom volunteers to ensure they are following planned activities, hygiene, and safety standards.
● Lead by example; encourage teaching team success through modeling and coaching.
● Maintain frequent communications with parents through informal discussions, progress reports, and parent-teacher conferences.
● Ensure all school policies and state and licensing regulations are met.
● Maintain accurate records, forms, and files.
● Maintain a personal professional development plan to maintain Montessori certification and ensure continuous quality improvement.
● Engage as a problem-solving member of the team to continuously improve.
Start Date July 31, 2023 (185 Days + 5 for Professional Development Week) 8 Hours per Day / 7:25am – 3:25pm (times may be adjusted as needed)
