June Shelton School & Evaluation Center enjoys the distinction of being the world’s largest independent school for bright children with learning differences. Founded in 1976, Shelton is dedicated to making a difference by serving and empowering the lives of students who learn differently. While the school is clearly the centerpiece of its mission, Shelton is more than a school. It encompasses three other major components, all open to the community—a speech and language therapy program, an evaluation center, and a teacher-training program. Shelton is actively involved with research and collaborates with major medical institutions in the Dallas area, including Children’s Medical Center and UT Southwestern Medical Center. The Shelton School is a co-educational, non-sectarian school that serves approximately 900 students with learning differences in grades EC to 12. The Shelton School is accredited by Independent Schools Association of the Southwest (ISAS).
Position Overview:
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced individual to join our team as a Montessori Elementary Training Coordinator. In this role, you will be responsible for assisting the program director in all aspects of managing the training and professional development sessions for the Shelton Montessori Training (SMT). The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of Montessori philosophy, coupled with a passion for Montessori pedagogy.

Qualifications & Skills:
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Recognized Elementary Montessori credential
  • Minimum of three years of experience in an Elementary Montessori classroom after receiving the Montessori credential
  • Experience in teaching adults, educational administration, and curriculum development is preferred
  • Competence with Microsoft Office and G-Suites
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Ability to work as a team member
  • Ability to navigate and utilize Learning Management System such as Canvas for course and student account management
  • Strong leadership ability and teamwork ethic with an ability to work under pressure.
  • Demonstrate flexibility in all aspects of work duties and takes initiative.
  • Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing, using appropriate vocabulary, grammar, and language
  • Willingness toward continuous improvement
Essential Functions:
  • Assist the program director in all aspects of managing the training and professional development sessions for the Shelton Montessori Training (SMT). Some Saturdays required.
  • Support and lead in the collaboration and development of Elementary Training content and design.
  • Review all level course materials and collaborate with the SMT Director to coordinate and implement proposed changes/additions.
  • Supervise the elementary curriculum, faculty, and administrative tasks for the Shelton Montessori Training.
  • Maintain accurate records of training sessions, participant feedback, and program evaluations.
  • Collaborate with the SMT Director to maintain and align AMS/MACTE requirements and competencies for the elementary level courses where appropriate.
  • Collaborate with the SMT Director and Early Childhood Coordinator to schedule course delivery, recruitment/training of instructors, maintenance of faculty and student files, and other duties as they arise.
  • Willingness to conduct training sessions for adult learners, covering various courses of Montessori elementary curriculum.
  • Perform and document field consultations and observations to support the Adult Learners in their classrooms, offering guidance and support to maintain SMT standards.
  • Monitor and evaluate the progress of the Adult Learners and develop professional development courses, providing feedback and implementing improvements as needed.
  • Create new courses on the Canvas for each cohort year and maintain updates to Canvas courses for the level with input from the PD and faculty.
  • Record, edit, and publish training videos.
  • Organize and attend meetings including scheduling and sending reminders.
  • Support adult learners and faculty, and set them up for success.
  • Perform other responsibilities as assigned.
