JOB SUMMARY
This position exists to provide overnight shift coverage to residents in emergency housing programs. Overnight Monitor staff will have limited interaction with clients as their duty hours are typically during the time clients are expected to be asleep. Due to the overnight hours worked, the Overnight Monitor may, from time to time, be called upon to address medical or emotional emergencies/crises.
RESPONSIBILITIES

• Monitors the residents during the overnight hours. Ensures presence in the facility.
• Accepts overnight referrals and places clients in appropriate overnight accommodations.
• Responds to resident's needs for medication or emergency medical treatment.
• Maintains program structure and adherence to rules and procedures.
• Documents in program log both the regular checks on clients and any emergency/crisis situations which occur.
• Able to provide basic direction to clients who experience emotional crisis during the shift.
• Communicates effectively with other staff in order to provide consistent treatment for each client.
• Maintains facility security. Complies with all MHS and program rules, policies & procedures including HIPAA standards. Participates in maintenance of security procedures of the facility.
• Working knowledge of mental health and/or substance abuse programs and treatment.
• Monitor must be able to address emergency situations and be willing to seek supervision, when needed.
• Complies with standards of care established for the program. Continually demonstrates the ability to provide quality care to program residents.
• Aware of issues of transference and countertransference related to addressing client's needs in emergency housing.
• Understands the concept of co-dependent behavior and appropriate responses as guided by Program Manager supervision.
• Familiar with and actively engaged in the MHS' Injury and Illness Prevention Plan.
• Shares responsibilities with co-workers in all disciplines for all residents in the program.
• Exhibits flexibility and adaptability to change and willingness to assist others.
• Provides support for staff members and assists in seeking solutions to problems.
• Maintains the distinction between therapeutic and social relationships.
• Utilizes logical problem-solving techniques both independently and in collaboration with workers in dealing with clinical needs.
• Follows all program policies regarding breaks, lunch, sick, vacation, leaves of absence, etc.
QUALIFICATIONS
• High school diploma or its equivalent (e.g., General Equivalency Diploma-GED).
• Fluency in English and Spanish required.
• Proficient user of Microsoft Office Suite and EHR software.
• Ability to problem solve and react appropriately to emergency situations.
• Ability to work independently and effectively collaborate with a team.
PAY RANGE: $26 / HOURLY
