SEASONAL SCOOPER

*
This role is hourly, 25+ hours a week starting at $21.00 an hour.*

As a seasonal molly moon’s scooper, you will be responsible for providing generous, joyful customer service, consistent scoops, and good vibes during every shift. You will ring up customers, keep the shop clean, know our menu inside and out, make waffle products, change out tubs of ice cream. This fun, seasonal position is perfect for those skilled in multitasking, customer service, and who enjoy a bustling team setting. RESPONSIBILITIES*

*
Customer Service:*

  • Welcome and thank every customer.
  • Offer samples, menu suggestions, and add-ons with a generous, friendly attitude.
  • Be curious and share what you’ve learned about our ingredients, our partnerships, our people, and our role in the community with our amazing customers!
  • Handle customer inquiries and resolve any concerns or issues.
  • *Ice Cream Scooping:
  • Accurately and efficiently scoop ice cream into cones or cups.
  • Ensure every item leaving our shop is visually appealing and consistent in size.
  • Handle and store ice cream products according to safety and hygiene standards.
  • Roll waffle cones, make sundaes, and mix shakes.
  • Keep calm and scoop on when it gets loud and busy.
  • *Cash Handling:
  • Process customer transactions accurately using a cash register.
  • Handle cash, credit card, and other payment methods.
  • Provide correct change and receipts to customers.
  • *Teamwork:
  • Collaborate with other team members to ensure smooth operations.
  • Communicate effectively with coworkers and management.
  • Assist in closing duties and cleaning at the end of each shift.
  • *Cleanliness:
  • Continually stock ice cream, merchandise, and paper goods
  • Hustle to keep the shop looking clean, welcoming, and fully stocked.
  • Keep shop inviting and clean: inside and outside, including daily deep cleaning,
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area, wiping spills as you go.
  • Keep the bathroom clean and stocked.
  • Follow health, safety, and sanitation guidelines with care.
  • Other cleaning duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Be at least 16 years old by June 1, 2024
  • Retail or client/customer service experience preferred, but not required
  • Basic math skills for cash handling
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Attention to detail and cleanliness
  • Ability to lift 50lbs on a regular basis and be comfortable doing repetitive physical tasks
  • Ability to stand for long hours; scooping shifts require standing for 5-8 hours at a time
  • Have access to a phone that can text and make calls
  • Have access to the internet to check email and view your schedule
  • Molly Moon’s is a tobacco free company—we do not hire smokers
  • Obtain a Washington state food handler’s permit before your first day of work

AVAILABILITY*

  • Candidates must be able and available to work late nights. Many shifts are closing shifts and are scheduled until midnight.
  • Be available 20+ hours a week while working a minimum of two shifts per week. Exceptions to the availability requirement can be made for high school students when school is in session. During summer break our standard availability requirements apply
  • No planned absences longer than 4 days in a row, June 1st through August 31st. This includes scheduled shifts where you might be able to find coverage (e.g. you could not take a 10 day vacation by getting 4 days off and covering a weeks’ worth of shifts)
  • Willingness to pick up shifts and work in other shops on occasion strongly preferred
  • Be available to work at least two closing weekend shifts (Friday-Sunday)

COMPENSATION*

  • Starting wage: $21.00/hr to $21.00/hr (all hires start at the same hourly rate)
  • Pay range for molly moon’s scoopers: $21.00/hr (starting) to $24.07/hr (4 year tenure)
  • Two pay increases per year:
  • annual merit-based performance increase of between 1%-3%
  • annual cost of living increase based on the Seattle CPI

BENEFITS

  • Zero premium, high-quality medical, dental, and vision insurance that work an average of 20+ hours per week over a period of 6 weeks. New employees are eligible for health insurance 60 days after the first day of the first full month of employment.
  • Molly Moon’s pays 100% of premium for qualifying employees and their children.
  • A spouse may also be insured on company plan at the employee’s expense.
  • Paid Sick and Safe Time (PSST):
  • 16 hours front-loaded at time of hire
  • Additional PSST accrues at a rate of .30846/hr per hour worked in accordance with Seattle law
  • Eligible for vacation PTO after working 6 months
  • Four time and a half holidays per year
  • Supplemental paid family leave benefits for employees who qualify for and receive PFML. Molly Moon’s will pay the difference between the PFML benefit and 100% of an employee’s regular hourly earnings for the duration of your ESD approved leave up to a maximum of 18 weeks
  • 401k with employer match of 1% in the first year of participation, 2% year 2, and 3% year three. Employees are eligible after 6 consecutive months of employment
  • Subsidized ORCA passport available for $10/month or $75/month GoodtoGo stipend for mooncrew who commute to their home shop via toll road
  • Childcare subsidies toward the cost of childcare, day care, babysitting & after school programs:
  • up to $1,000 per month / per child for each child under the age of 5 (or pre-K)
  • up to $4,200 per year / per child for each child between the ages of 5-12
  • Access to free Employee Assistance Program for all employees starting on their first day of hire. Services include financial planning, counseling, housing and childcare resources and other benefits.
  • Predictable, flexible scheduling, posted either 2 or 4 weeks at a time depending on the season, with the ability to trade shifts and work in different shops

  • While most scooping positions are seasonal and end in September or October a handful of scoopers work for Molly Moon’s through winter and spring. For scoopers who stay with us beyond summer many career advancement possibilities exist in our growing company
