Job Description
Position Purpose:
Under the general direction of the Molding Department Manager, lead a team of people in the execution of daily production tasks, mold and/or material changes, work scheduling, training, maintenance, and continuous improvement to ensure the safe production of quality parts.
Main Duties
- Records and reviews shift’s performance metrics. Weekly reporting of metrics to upper Management to ensure production goals are on track
- Reviews production schedules and work orders, and assigns duties to workers according to order priorities. Reprioritizes and adjusts schedule as necessary and effectively communicates schedule to production floor
- Examines molded products from each machine to verify conformance to customer specifications
- Confers with management and other supervisors to resolve production problems
- Ensures that the tools and equipment are in working order. Submits maintenance service request when equipment is in need of repair, or investigates new equipment and submits purchase order requests when new equipment is needed
- Monitors processes on assigned shift to ensure product quality is being met
- Ensures that all shift documentation is complete and in place
- Drives to root cause while investigating assigned Corrective Actions. Uses corrective actions as opportunities to train production employees
- Cooperates with all departments (Assembly, Maintenance, Tooling, Paint, Planning, CSR, etc.) to ensure quality products reach customers on time and per expectations
- Responsible for conducting effective operator training and safety training
- Verifies timecards and approves vacation and coverage for 45+ employees
- Maintains positive employee relations and adhere to Company policies, safety standards, and good
housekeeping practices
- Other duties may be assigned as necessary
Skill and Experience Requirements
- Requires a thorough knowledge of molding processes, materials, and machinery
- Requires strong organizational and interpersonal skills
- Must have a minimum of 5 years in an injection molding manufacturing environment and supervisory experience
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints along with measuring devices
- Must possess strong leadership and managerial skills
- Must be proficient in MS Office
- Experience in an ISO certified manufacturing environment is a plus
- Experience implementing Lean Manufacturing Principles
- Experience in the Aerospace industry is preferred
Physical Requirements
Must be able to reach, climb, lift up to 50 pounds occasionally, be on feet (standing or walking) for most of shift. Must be able to communicate effectively with employees in own and other departments. Must be able to read work instructions and complete paperwork. Must be able to input data into ERP system.
