We are looking for a Mobile Crisis Peer Support Specialist to join our Crisis Team and provide support for our clients as they look to overcome substance abuse and mental health disorders.
Peer Support Specialist responsibilities include conducting support meetings, developing recovery strategies, and responding to patient emergencies as needed.
Ultimately, you will work directly with our crisis response team and patients to help them address substance abuse and mental health disorders.
Responsibilities
- Supports Mobile Crisis Clinicians on crisis calls in the community; this position may requires
- May occasionally consult with mental health and other medical professionals, supervisors, and other staff regarding the status and disposition of clients.
- Works with client's family to assist them in understanding and dealing with the client's problems.
- Reports and documents observations of client behavior and progress.
- May arrange medical appointments, therapy sessions, support groups, and other resources to aid the client
- Monitor the client’s behavior, schedule, medication, and activities
- Report any unusual behavior, conflicts, or recovery deviations to the relevant professionals
- Liaise with family members and medical professionals regularly
- Coordinate client logistics such as medical appointments and therapy sessions, among others
- Conduct assessments and provide feedback to the client, medical professionals, and the family
- Attends meetings, seminars and training sessions as required.
- Maintains various data used in the generation of reports; utilizes a computer to enter, store, and retrieve data; may compile and produce narrative reports; composes routine correspondence; disseminates information to others.
- Must meet state Peer requirements and complete peer training
Ability to maintain mental capacity, which allows the capability to exercise sound judgment and rational thinking under varied circumstances; think and act quickly in emergencies; effectively deal with personal danger; requires the ability to exert physical effort in an emergency as well as sedentary to light work involving moving from one area of the office to another; ability to maintain effective audio-visual discrimination and perception required for making observation and judgment regarding client behavior; ability to hear and communicate orally; requires sufficient hand/eye coordination to perform semi-skilled repetitive movements, such as typing, data entry or use of other office equipment or supplies; ability to operate a motor vehicle. Must be willing to work 12 hour on call shifts, weekends, holidays, and nights. There will be a supportive team available during on-call shifts 24/7 for responses
