Job Summary
TheIntelligence Specialist position of the Missing and Murdered Indigenous Relatives (MMIR) Office, within the Department of Public Safety Office of Justice Programs (DPS-OJP) under administrative direction is responsible for assisting in the collection, analysis and dissemination of MMIR data and information, and assisting with MMIR investigations in support of Minnesota's Tribal Nations, Bands, and Communities; federal, state, and local law enforcement; federal and state agencies; and community based organizations and advocates to end MMIR violence. This can be done through the implementation of recommendations by task forces, advisory groups, research, case analysis, evaluation of programs, review of state policies and practices, and other inputs identified by the Director; and perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
To facilitate proper years of service crediting, please ensure that your resume clearly describes your experience in the areas listed and indicates the beginning and ending month and year for each job held.
Three (3) years* of professional experience in behavioral science, social services, criminal justice or related field.
Professional experience must include the following:
  1. Experience in working with Tribal Nations and community programs
  2. Demonstrated administrative skills sufficient for facilitating, planning, and implementation of office strategic priorities and goals
  3. Planning and communication skills sufficient to coordinate advisory groups, educate, state agency staff, and external stakeholders, draft policy and procedures, draft mandated reports and legislation
  4. Demonstrated knowledge of experience related to the criminal justice process, criminal investigations, crime victim issues, and key factors perpetuating violence against Indigenous communities
  5. Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office programs
  6. Ability to work cooperatively with individuals from diverse backgrounds and underserved communities

*Bachelor's degree from an accredited school in behavioral science, social services, criminal justice or other closely related field as determined by the agency can substitute for one (1) year of experience or master's degree can substitute for eighteen (18) months of experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  1. Strong relationships with Minnesota Tribal Nations
  2. Demonstrated knowledge of state systems and the legislative process
  3. Law Enforcement investigation experience

Physical Requirements
Requires occasionally moving and transporting such articles as file boxes and heavy hand tools or heavier materials with help from others, and moving and transporting light objects frequently. Even though the weights being moved and transported may be a negligible amount, a job in this category may require positioning self to move to a significant degree or may involve maintaining a stationary position for extended periods.
