Job description

This Lead Mission Support Specialist position is with the Office of Professional Responsibility (OPR) within U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), located in Washington D.C.

***Eligibility: This opportunity is open to current federal employees with competitive status within the local commuting area (LCA); federal employees who meet the definition of a surplus or displaced employee; current and former Land Management employees within the LCA who meet the Land Management Workforce Flexibility Act requirements; and Veterans with VEOA status.

Utilize your expertise to provide support and guidance on a variety of Mission Support processes including budget, procurement, personnel, telecommunications, hiring and staffing, logistics (fleet and facilities), records management, training, travel, and property.

Typical work assignments include but are not limited to:

  • Providing expert-level advice, assistance, and guidance in Mission Support specialty area(s) to SAC/RAC and executive leadership, employees in the field offices, and staff at OPR headquarters to include providing authoritative advice and guidance to lower-graded Mission Support specialists.
  • Monitoring the status and progress of work, checking on work in progress and reviewing completed work to see that instructions on work priorities, methods, deadlines, and quality are met.
  • Assisting with initiating and monitoring budget and procurement processes for management, with an awareness of the interrelationships between these two fields and their importance to achieving the mission to include inputting and coordinating with MSD the monthly, quarterly, and annual budgeting requirements and everyday budget operations.
  • Monitoring time and attendance, purchase card activity, travel processing, local property and inventory, regulations, and policies related to Mission Support functions within CBP sufficient to plan, organize, evaluate, and improve Mission Support services and processes.

Salary and Benefits

This position starts at a salary of $117,962.00 (GS-13, Step 1) to $153,354.00 (GS-13, Step 10) with promotion potential to $153,354.00 (GS-13 Step 10). Qualifications

Experience–You qualify for the GS-13 grade level if you possess one year of specializedexperience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, performing duties such as:

  • Maintaining investigative filing systems and dispossessing confidential investigation files based on retention schedules.
  • Serving as a point of contact for correspondence, requests, and actions of on-boarding processes, employees’ badges, credentials, and maintaining records of these items.
  • Assisting with managing vehicles, initiating and monitoring budget and procurement and property management processes.

Education Substitution: There is no education substitution allowable at this grade level.
