Summary:
The Minor League Nutrition Coordinator is primarily responsible for the design, implementation, and execution of nutrition programming and support across the New York Mets Player Development system. Leadership oversight will include the Assistant Sports Dietitian, Associates of Performance Nutrition and work closely with the Major League Nutrition Coordinator. There will be a strong emphasis of cross-departmental collaboration, with the Nutrition Coordinator to ensure that the programming and support is part of a comprehensive player plan to optimize for athletic performance, while ensuring the health and safety of the Mets Minor League players.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
• Development and dissemination of performance nutrition education materials.
• Collaboration with in-house catering staffs to ensure congruity with menu development and the NY Mets Performance Nutrition standards.
• Perform individual nutrition consults with athletes. This will include counseling athletes on dietary supplement use and providing medical nutrition therapy to aid in health and performance of athletes.
• Build and execute staff development, evaluation, and education systems for the staff under their charge. This includes in-season and off-season development systems for staff growth, with an expectation of building relationships while investing in the development of their staff by providing clear, candid, and actionable feedback.
• Develop and maintain vendor relationships that support the performance nutrition department.
• Oversee hydration testing and sweat testing as assigned.
• Direct management and oversight of the performance nutrition budget
Qualifications:
• Certification as a Registered Dietitian (RD/RDN).
• Certification as a Specialist in Sports Dietetics (CSSD) is preferred.
• Minimum 2 years' experience in sports nutrition at the collegiate or professional level.
• Ability to work independently and maintain a high level of professionalism.
• Must be able to work unconventional hours (Ex. weekends, evenings, holidays, etc.)
• This is a full-time position and will be based at the New York Mets Spring Training Facility, Clover Park, in Port Saint Lucie, FL. (Open to an off-site location)
• The role will require travel to each of the Mets Minor League affiliates throughout the season along with occasional trips to Citi Field.
• Strong desire to be a part of a collaborative and integrative environment that supports professional development and professional excellence within in the performance department.
• Spanish fluency, preferred.
