Summary/Objective: The Millwork Assistant position is responsible for general manufacturing duties involving handling of wood and related materials. The position requires an individual to assist the Lead Millwork Technicians as necessary, to achieve the desired productivity levels established by the company. This role also requires occasional Mill shop-based deliveries.
Essential Functions:
- Ability to determine and pull proper materials needed for each task.
- Physically able to lift heavy boards and sheets of plywood to process through various machinery in the production of goods.
- Prepare products for finishing and/or shipping including but not limited to, filling nail holes and voids, sanding and priming of mouldings and millwork.
- Must be able to safely operate the following: cut off saws, jointers, planers, table saws, shapers, sanders, pneumatic nail/staple guns, chop saws, routers, table saws, hand tools and other various specialty machineryto manufacture components from lumber, plywood and other wood products.
- Must be able to exercise independent judgment when undertaking assignments.
- Must be able to safely use dangerous powerful machinery and wear personal safety devices such as safety glasses, hearing protection guards and safety shields at all times.
- Maintain a safe working environment, identifying and correcting potential safety concerns and hazards.
- Packaging finished products to ship by palletizing, stretch wrapping and banding.
- Must be able to follow written and oral instructions, paying attention to details.
- Work on a production line within a team concept
- Ability to produce final product with in the project deadlines.
- Maintain machines and tools on a daily basis.
- Maintain cleanliness of shop, performs routine service on equipment
- Assist lead workers as necessary and performs other duties as required.
- Make shop-based deliveries when needed

- Previous Carpentry/Woodworking/Constructions experience
- Prior Assembly experience
- High school diploma, GED or equivalent
Working Conditions and Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to airborne particles, dust, debris, moving forklifts, noise and vibration. Physical demands include:
Standing: Alternates between occasional and frequent standing and sitting as necessary to complete task performed at variable bench levels. Periods of time can range from 15 minutes to 2 hours consecutively.
Walking: Occasionally between work stations or to obtain parts and supplies.
Sitting: Alternates between sit and stand as necessary to complete tasks performed at bench level. Periods of time can range from 15 minutes to 2 hours. The worker will alternate between sitting and standing on a frequent to constant basis, alternating between the two and the worker’s own discretion.
Lifting: May lift smaller items weighing ounces on a frequent to constant basis throughout the day (hand tools, screws, wires, etc.). May occasionally to frequently lift and carry up to 50 pounds for short distances.
Carrying: May occasionally to frequently lift and carry up to 50 pounds for short distances.
Pushing/Pulling: May occasionally push/pull cart with supplies for short distances with up to 30 pounds of force. The worker may use less than 10 pounds of push/pull force frequently to constantly throughout the day while performing assembly duties (this will include pushing and pulling on pieces of the item being assembled)
Controlling: Occasional to frequent if operating machinery.
Climbing: The worker may be required to use a flight of stairs or a step stool on an occasional basis.
Balancing: Within normal limits.
Bending/Stooping: Occasionally at waist level if retrieving a dropped item. The worker may slightly bend at the neck level on an occasional frequent basis while working on products.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work: This is a full-time, Non-Exempt Typical hours are Monday through Friday from 6:30 am to 3:00 pm.
