What You'll Do:
The Ohio Secretary of State is currently seeking candidates for a Military and Veteran Engagement Coordinator. Under direct supervision of the Director of Strategic Initiatives, this position is responsible of the daily engagement of military, veteran and other groups to promote the initiatives of the office regarding starting a business and promoting democracy.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Conduct and coordinate statewide military & veteran outreach efforts.
- Develop relationships with stakeholders statewide and be in constant communication with them.
- Develop and cultivate election and business initiatives across areas of the office.
- Represent the Secretary of State’s office at meetings with military/veteran groups as well as other community organizations statewide.
- Assist in the preparation and execution of events.
- Prepare and submit regular reports of daily activities on behalf of the Secretary of State’s office.
- Draft communications for various initiatives including but not limited to Military and Veteran audiences.

Education
- Required: A bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as communication, marketing, public relations, or a related discipline is required.
- Required: Background in or related military experience.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills are crucial in this position. This individual will often need to communicate with diverse groups of people, including community members, stakeholders, and team members.
- Interpersonal/Networking Skills: Strong interpersonal skills are essential for building and maintaining relationships. In this position it is essential to nurture and maintain relationships to help promote the initiatives of the Secretary of State’s office.
- Knowledge of Outreach Strategies: Although not required, familiarity with various outreach strategies, including online and offline methods, to effectively engage with target audiences would be encouraged.
