Middle/Upper School French Teacher

This is a full-time, exempt position teaching Middle and Upper School French, reporting to the Head of Middle School.This position will begin on August 15, 2024.

Major Responsibilities

• Teach four sections of Middle and Upper School French
• Act as an advisor and be committed to playing an active role in MS.

Qualifications

The successful candidate must:

• Share a deep passion for French
• Have experience teaching French to middle-school students (Grades 6, 7, 8) and command of appropriate L2 strategies
• Have experience in immersion-based teaching (90% + target language) and appropriate L2 strategies
• Demonstrate the ability to execute lessons using authentic resources, games, and songs
• Demonstrate knowledge of Teaching Proficiency through Reading and Storytelling (TPRS) techniques and engage multiple modalities so that students can retain information
• Have experience working with individuals from diverse backgrounds and work to create a supportive atmosphere and rigorous academic program in which all students will thrive.
• Demonstrated competence in applying global diversity perspectives to language instruction

The ideal candidate will possess the following:

• Maturity, collegiality, flexibility, humor
• Excellent speaking and writing skills
• 3-5 years teaching experience preferred
• BA in Education or related field; (MA in French, Foreign Language instruction or a related field not required but preferred)
• Knowledge of Spanish would be a wonderful addition
• Superior level of proficiency in French
