Dr. John Ochsner Discovery Health Sciences Academy seeks Bachelor’s or Master’s degree teacher certified in Special Education. Three (3)+ years’ experience with Special Education students in a school setting is preferred. Strong knowledge of Special Education instructional strategies such as differentiated instruction, modification of curriculum and assessments, and implementation of student accommodations. Experience with IEP development and implementation is essential. Knowledge of RTI, BIP, and current legal policy in regard to SPED is required. Familiarity with state/district compliance and uploading IEPs to the SER website is an asset. Ability to collaborate with various teachers, parents, and school leaders to be a strong advocate for students is needed. Knowledge of State testing and Louisiana State Standards preferred. Certification or interest in achieving certification in multiple areas a plus. A strong candidate will have an interest and ability to support one or more extra-curricular clubs or sport outside of the regular school day. Trainings and workshops in the summer may be required. Position is available August 2024.
