About the Position
We are seeking a dynamic and engaging Math teacher to join our team and play a crucial role in inspiring and empowering students to explore the world of Math. The successful candidate will be responsible for creating engaging and rigorous lesson plans that align with Ohio's Learning Standards, preparing students for success in future Math courses, and instilling a sense of confidence in their mathematic abilities. This position will focus on teaching grades 6 through 8 Math, with the potential to teach different courses within this grade band depending on departmental needs.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement engaging and effective lesson plans that adhere to Ohio's Learning Standards and promote deep conceptual understanding of mathematical concepts.
- Utilize a variety of instructional methods, including hands-on activities, technology integration, differentiated instruction, and problem-solving activities, to cater to diverse learners and learning styles.
- Assess student learning through various methods, including formative and summative assessments, and provide actionable feedback to help students progress.
- Facilitate a positive and supportive learning environment that encourages collaboration, critical thinking, and a growth mindset toward learning math.
- Collaborate with colleagues to develop and implement curriculum, share best practices, and ensure a cohesive learning experience for all students.
- Stay up-to-date on current trends and advancements in Middle School math education and integrate them into the curriculum.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to continuously improve teaching skills and knowledge.
- Maintain accurate and complete student records.
- Communicate effectively with parents, guardians, and other stakeholders.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Mathematics Education or a related field.
- Valid Ohio Teaching License in Math (or the ability to obtain one).
- Minimum of two years of successful teaching experience at the Middle School level (preferred).
- Strong understanding of Middle School math concepts and curriculum.
- Ability to create engaging and effective lesson plans that cater to diverse learners and learning styles.
- Strong communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to use technology effectively to enhance instruction and student learning.
- Commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment.
