Middle School Girls Basketball Assistant Coach
Accountable to the K-12 Athletic Director and Assistant Athletic Director, the Middle School Girls Basketball Assistant Coach supports the combination of academic and athletic success for each student-athlete. The Assistant Coach is responsible for supporting the overarching strategies outlined by the head coach while instructing student-athletes in the fundamental skills, strategies, and physical training necessary for them to realize a degree of individual and team success. Additionally, the Assistant Coach will support student-athletes in developing self-discipline, self-confidence, values, pride of accomplishment, teamwork, and social skills.
Supervises: This is a non-supervisory role.
Compensation: This is a seasonal, part-time, stipend-paid position. Stipend is dependent upon experience and qualifications. The school participates in the Colorado Public Schools Retirement System PERA.

Essential Functions:
- Attend all Athletic Director meetings and league meetings (when needed).
- Increase the number of participants through effective recruiting of currently enrolled students.
- Develop life skills in student athletes.
- Assist in creating practice plans specifically designed for incremental skill development.
- Monitor academic progress and student eligibility.
- Support student-teacher relationships and provide academic support opportunities for student-athletes.
- Teach and encourage sportsmanship and integrity.
- Maintain professional behavior during practices and games.
- Conduct effective practices to develop strength, endurance, and athletic skills.
- Conduct activities to build individual participants into a cohesive team.
- Provide appropriate, systematic feedback to all student-athletes.
- Build and improve relationships among peer coaches and teachers.
- Build and improve relationships with other sports teams in the school district at the same or different levels.
- Attend and participate in ongoing professional development as a coach to improve overall student/athlete skill.
- Assist the head coach with acquisition, distribution, maintenance and repair of all equipment and uniforms.
- Assist the head coach with raising and/or acquiring the necessary funds for program success.
- Demonstrate appropriate concern for visiting teams and officials.
- Skillfully use First Aid and CPR training to prevent, minimize and treat predictable injuries.
General Qualifications and Requirements:
- Knowledge in sport-specific coaching and training techniques.
- Prior experience coaching in basketball preferred.
- Ability to work as an integral part of the coaching staff.
