SelecTransportation Resources, LLC, a group of heavy truck dealerships with 400+ employees, located along the Gulf Coast of Texas and headquartered in Houston. Our group of dealerships operates on an internally designed ERP system which was developed by our affiliated company, SelecSoftware, LLC. This software is the foundation of our business, and we are constantly enhancing and innovating different solutions.
Position Overview
Our firm needs a Mid to Senior Level Database Developer to join our growing team. This is a “comprehensive” position encompassing database performance analysis, development, and troubleshooting. We are looking for a professional with experience in both database development and administration. The successful applicant will work in collaboration with the executive, systems architect, business analyst and other developers at the company.
The ideal candidate for this position will be detail-oriented and highly innovative. As a member of the team, the Database Developer will aid in the enhancement of the business system in place and development of new solutions.
A professional Database Developer will keep the database up and running smoothly. The goal is to provide a seamless flow of information throughout the company, considering both backend data structure and frontend accessibility for end-users.
This position will report to the Chief Technology Officer of the company.
Responsibilities
- Design, construct, and manage large relational databases.
- Integrate new systems and development following existing standards and structure.
- Minimize database downtime and monitor database performance.
- Design and develop SSRS reports and manage report server subscriptions.
- Resolve performance degradation areas in database objects.
- Work on sprint tasks and aid the software development team on SQL development tasks.
- Determine, enforce, and document database policies, procedures, and standards.
- Perform tests and evaluations regularly to ensure data security, privacy, and integrity.
- Research new technologies and develop proofs of concept.
Education & Experience
- BS/MS degree in a computer science / information system or relevant certification.
- At least 5 yrs. working experience in database development (Stored procedures, triggers, tables, views, functions, etc).
- Extensive experience designing and constructing large relational databases.
- At least 2 years’ experience working with software development team.
- At least 1 year experience in SSRS report development.
- Working experience with data visualization techniques to present information in a clear and intuitive manner.
- Hands-on experience with database standards and end user applications.
- Knowledge of database backup, recovery, security, and integrity a plus.
- Knowledge of AWS backup and recovery a plus.
- Experience in database archiving, data warehouse a plus.
Compensation
Will be based on education and experience.
Employment Type and Duration
This is a full time On-Site position with 90-day evaluation period.
