Microsoft Security Specialist

Job Summary:

The Microsoft Security Specialist will be responsible for implementing security tools and procedures, assessing our enterprise security posture, and providing guidance on gaps and configuration settings. They will ensure the ongoing protection of applications, systems, and data assets in alignment with enterprise security policies.

Duties:

• Leverage information security, operations, cyber defense, and incident response experience to drive change within the enterprise
• Assess and optimize Microsoft Defender products, Intune, Conditional Access, Purview, 0365, Windows Hello for Business, and other security tools.
• Configure SSPR in all conceivable configurations.
• Create automated reporting within Microsoft tenants to capture and report metrics around various security activities.
• Manage information protection and Data Loss Prevention tools.
• Interact with data privacy and compliance departments as they relate to data security.
• Conduct computer forensic analysis, data recovery, eDiscovery, and other IT investigative work.
• Perform incident response activities and ensure proper protection or corrective measures are taken.
• Support security monitoring, protection, and delivery of security services.
• Assess systems, processes, and projects against compliance requirements and security best practices.
• Report status on activities, issues, projects, etc., to senior staff/management.
• Propose new standards, tools, policies, and procedures to improve security and compliance activities.
• Collaborate with IT teams and security colleagues to ensure audit readiness, and to prepare customers for internal and external audits.
• Identify gaps in controls, processes, systems, and recommend solutions.
• Investigate security incidents, perform root cause analysis, and document findings.
• Understand cyber-security principles and the information security threat landscape.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Experience:

Mandatory Skills:
- MS 365 Security - M365 - SharePoint, OneDrive, Intune, Automation
- Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in security implementations on Microsoft 365 solutions.
- Familiarity with Microsoft 365 cloud services, including Teams, SharePoint, and OneDrive.
- Strong understanding of the Microsoft Defender for Endpoint, especially Vulnerability Management and XDR
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Solution Stack and Azure platform.
- Awareness of cloud security standards like NIST, CIS, ISO, and CSA STAR.
- Willingness to learn and contribute to building and deploying enterprise-scale Security solutions using Microsoft 365 platform components.
- Good communication skills and eagerness to develop presentation abilities.
- Working towards or interested in obtaining relevant Microsoft certifications (e.g., Microsoft 365 Modern Desktop Administrator Associate, Microsoft 365 Security Administrator Associate).
