Job description

Position Summary

As a microbiologist technician, your role involves conducting quality control tests on both raw materials and finished products. Your main responsibility is to ensure that the products meet the required quality standards. This includes preparing and sterilizing samples, conducting tests using various techniques and equipment, and analyzing and reporting the results to other members of the team.

Employee Responsibilities

· Adhere to cGMP and SOPs.

· Report any situations that might have a negative effect on food safety or quality immediately to supervisor or QA Department.

· Ensure food safety and quality are maintained according to company standards.

· Comply with policies and procedures to prepare and pack products under sanitary conditions that do not expose it to the risk of contamination.

· Operate and maintain a clean and hygienic standard of operation. Follow Company cGMP’s (Current Good Manufacturing Practices and Food Safety Policies at all times)

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Collect and perform quality control tests on raw materials and finished products following Aseptic technique.
  • Record and analyze test results and report findings to the lab manager.
  • Maintain laboratory equipment, including cleaning and sterilizing instruments and ensuring that equipment is calibrated and functioning properly.
  • Prepare and autoclave media and other lab apparatus.
  • Perform and complete sanitation checklist.
  • Able to enter data and print results for review.
  • Assist lead microbiologist as required.
  • Work collaboratively with other members of the quality control and manufacturing teams to identify and resolve issues related to food safety.
  • Maintain accurate records of laboratory testing activities.
  • Participate in ongoing training to stay up-to-date on the latest research and technologies related to food safety and microbiology

· Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)

  • Food safety standards and regulations.
  • Knowledge of cGMPs.
  • Ability to manage processes and procedures.
  • Ability to manage team members effectively.
  • Ability to work in an environment with inside/outside extreme temperatures and in noisy environments.

EDUCATION:

· High School Diploma or equivalent required.

· Associate degree in microbiology or Scientific Field.

QUALIFICATIONS: If you apply for this position, you must be eligible to work in the U.S. without need for an employer sponsored visa (work permit).

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: (change as needed, depending on physical demand (sedentary, etc.) Microbiologists spend a significant amount of time working in a laboratory setting, which may require long periods of standing or sitting, as well as fine motor skills and manual dexterity to perform detailed work with small samples and equipment. Microbiologists may also need to lift and move heavy equipment or supplies, and be able to work with hazardous materials and chemicals, which may involve wearing protective gear such as gloves, goggles, or respirators. Additionally, microbiologists may need to work in environments with varying temperatures, humidity levels, and noise levels.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: While performing the primary duties of the job, the employee is regularly exposed to various outdoor and indoor environments (i.e. general office, industrial complexes, food processing plants, semiconductor labs, clean rooms, etc., some of which can be hazardous). Temperature variances, high noise levels, and dusty environments may be encountered.

  • Laboratory Experience: 1 year (Preferred)
