The University of New Mexico Gallup isone of four branch community colleges of the University of New Mexico and serveapproximately 2,200 students.  Located in Gallup NM, approximately 138miles west of Albuquerque, UNM-Gallup is situated in the Four Corners regionand near the Navajo Nation, Zuni Pueblo and Hopi Reservation.  The city ofGallup has a population of 22,000 and the surrounding areas provide anabundance of outdoor recreational activities, various museums and extraordinarycultural vibrancy, while maintaining a small-town feel.
The University of New Mexico hasestablished branch colleges to serve the citizens of New Mexico and to providehe highest quality of education for students pursuing post-secondary educationat different locations throughout the state.  Branch colleges respond specifically to the unique needs andmulticultural backgrounds of their respective communities by offeringcommunities community education pogroms career education including certificateand associate degree programs, and transfer program that prepare students forupper division entry into colleges and universities.

The Universityof New Mexico Gallup Campus is seeking applicants for the Manager of SmallBusiness Development Center (SBDC).  TheManager reports to the Chancellor, manages the planning, development, marketingand operation of the branch campus Small Business Development Center, whichprovides local small business development assistance and support in accordancewith the stated goals and objectives of the New Mexico Small BusinessDevelopment Center Network and the U.S. Small Business Administration, and inadherence to relevant State and Federal legislation, regulations, andguidelines.

Conditions of EmploymentMinimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or related field; at least 3 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Business Administration or related field.
  • Bilingual (Navajo/English, Zuni/English, or Spanish/English).
  • Three (3) years experience providing economic development strategies to owners of small businesses and to individual considering starting a business.
  • Previous small business ownership.
  • Experiencewith various marketing techniques utilizing current technology.
