Responsibilities
River Vista Behavioral Health sits along the bluffs overlooking the San Joaquin River, this brand new, 128-bed facility, will provide high-quality and advanced behavioral health services to residents and visitors in the Central Valley. The new hospital will employ more than 250 people, including clinicians, nurses, mental health technicians, support staff and administration.
We are currently seeking a forward thinking and compassionate Performance Improvement Manager to be part of our Quality Assurance Team. The Performance Improvement Manager is responsible for monitoring PERFORMANCE IMPROVement programs aimed to produce better patient care and employee proficiency through data tracking & reporting, enhanced employee performance & continuing education. This position provides facility-wide support to the Risk Management/Performance Improvement department; this includes accurate and timely data entry of tracking data, risk management reports, PERFORMANCE IMPROVement, staff competencies and licensure. This position ensures the confidentiality of all employees and patients' information.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in related business or related patient-care field preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience :
  • Two (2) years' experience improving organizational performance (IOP) within an acute psychiatric treatment setting, preferred.
  • A minimum of one (1) year experience managing policy and procedures in a health care setting, preferred.
Additional Requirements:
  • A strong knowledge of The Joint Commission, Cal OSHA and Patient Rights standards, and any other applicable federal and state laws and regulations governing mental health care facilities.

STANDARDS OF PERFORMANCE
  • Recommends new approaches, policies, and procedures to continually improve efficiency of the department and services performed.
  • Conducts audits and maintained tools for tracking assigned recommendations of PERFORMANCE IMPROVement indicators.
  • Participates in developing department goals, objectives, and systems.
  • Assists in preparing facility-related documents in compliance with accrediting bodies.
  • Assists in maintain compliance with federal, state, and local accreditation and regulations.
  • Provides continuous support in the analysis of PERFORMANCE IMPROVement goals and objectives, re-establishing requirements which will facilitate continuous improvement.
  • Review the results of PERFORMANCE IMPROVement indicators and requirements with the Director of Risk/PI.
  • Maintains a system for collecting, analyzing data, and tracking trends relating to PERFORMANCE IMPROVement measures.
  • Participates in quality improvement meetings on a regular basis to develop and continuously encourage a facility-wide team effort in meeting PERFORMANCE IMPROVement indicators.
  • Manages PERFORMANCE IMPROVement data and information flow.
  • Develops and maintains a record on PI activities and all PI minutes.
  • Supports the Director of Risk/PI in preparing and presenting the results of facility PERFORMANCE IMPROVement indicators on a monthly basis.
  • Adheres to facility, department, corporate, personnel, and standard P&Ps.
  • Attends all mandatory facility in-services, competencies, and staff development activities as scheduled.
  • Supports facility-wide PERFORMANCE IMPROVement goals and objectives.
  • Maintains confidentiality of facility employees and patient information.
  • Analyses and trends risk management data
  • Identifies actual/potential risk situations and facilitates the determination of causative factors.
  • Perform environmental risk surveys and inspect patient care areas in conjunction with the hospital's Environment of Care (EOC) program committee objectives.
  • Reviews reports on facility equipment to assess loss potentials, is applicable.
  • With the support of the Director of Risk/PI, networks with department managers and directors to implement system changes aimed at optimally reducing/eliminating causative factors.
  • Interfaces with Director of PI/Risk specific to the provision of patient care and assessment of quality data.
  • Network with Medical Staff to ensure active involvement of PERFORMANCE IMPROVement indicators.
  • Networks with medical Staff and Credentialing Coordinator to ensure the credentialing and privilege delineation process requires information regarding professional liability experience, results of peer review activities, changes in Medical Staff memberships, clinical privileges, licensure, etc.
  • Interfaces with Patient Advocate regarding patient complaints and assess and/or recommend action on those with may be a source of potential litigation. Reports these incidents to the Director of Risk/PI.
  • In conjunction with hospital administration, recommends action when possible, to resolve any grievances against the hospital perceived as potential liability claims.
  • Manages the oversight of hospital policy and procedures; networks with department directors to ensure annual updates are complete.
  • Manages the oversight of PERFORMANCE IMPROVement reports from all departments to ensure timely reporting.
