Mgr, Emergency Preparedness (EP)

  Holtec Decommissioning International (HDI) is currently seeking a Mgr, Emergency Preparednessto join the Palisades Nuclear Power Plant team in Covert, MI.

JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE 

Responsible for the development and administration of Emergency Preparedness at a nuclear plant to protect the health and safety of the public and plant employees. 

 

JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Maintain and revise Emergency response plans and procedures. 
  • Provide EP organizational guidance, direction, leadership, and planning for all departmental related activities.
  • Manage EP Staff 
  • Coordinate with the Oversight organization to assess site adherence to fleet practices.  
  • Ensure emergency program meets all federal, state and local regulations and requirements.
  • Establish and maintain working relationships with federal regulatory agencies and state/local government.  
  • Review and approve department policies and procedures; provide oversight to ensure EP activities are conducted in accordance with established procedures and standards.  
  • Oversee Emergency Response Teams, ERO team drills and evaluated exercises. Maintain ERO in a state of readiness.
  • Ensure functionality of all plant emergency alert and communications systems.   
  • Oversee training of ERO Team members, local government representatives and the media.  

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS 

Minimum education required of the position 

BS degree in Engineering or other scientific discipline generally associated with power plant operations or equivalent experience. 

Minimum experience required of the position 

8 years experience in nuclear power design, construction, maintenance, operations, radiation protection, chemistry, work management, engineering, licensing, finance, business services or equivalent. 5 years experience in Emergency Preparedness

Minimum knowledge, skills, and abilities required of the position 

Technical understanding of nuclear generation principles and operations. Outstanding communication and conflict management skills. Proficiency with current computer business applications. 

Any certificates, licenses, etc., required for the position  

SRO license or certification on a PWR (desired).
