Job Summary
As the Head Cashier, you will play an important role in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of the front-end activities at RWB Thrift. Your responsibilities encompass managing and leading our team of cashiers, setting the standard for operational excellence, and maintaining a focus on accuracy and adherence to established procedures. In addition to performing the essential functions of a Cashier, Head Cashiers are adept at diffusing conflicts and deescalating challenging situations. They must be comfortable enforcing company rules and standard operating procedures (SOPs), demonstrating an ability to maintain composure in a dynamic retail environment.
One of your primary functions will be to provide training to new cashiers. You will also oversee the maintenance of the cash box, collaborating with key carriers to handle voids, overrings, and employee purchases. In addition to these responsibilities, you will be tasked with monitoring the availability of change and managing change orders, ensuring that our cashiers always have the necessary resources.
Upholding a culture of operational excellence and professionalism among front-end employees is crucial, and you will address any behavioral concerns through verbal and written warnings as needed. In the event of accidents, theft, or robberies, you will be equipped with the knowledge and protocols to respond swiftly and effectively.
At the close of each day, you will record final register drops, balance each register, and tally the drop sheet to ensure accuracy. Your role plays a critical part in maintaining financial integrity and ensuring a seamless customer experience at our front end.

Key Responsibilities
  • Team Leadership: Lead and manage the cashier team, setting high standards for operational excellence and customer service.

  • Operational Efficiency: Continuously seek opportunities to improve the efficiency of front-end activities, contributing to the overall success of RWB Thrift.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED is preferred
  • Prior experience in cash handling, cashiering, or a related role is preferred
  • Previous thrift, retail, warehouse, or customer facing experience is preferred, but not required
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to Safely Perform Job Functions: Capable of safely and effectively performing essential job functions in accordance with ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards, including meeting both qualitative and quantitative productivity requirements.
  • Physical Strength: Must have the ability to occasionally lift and carry up to 25 lbs, frequently exert up to 25 lbs. of force, and constantly apply negligible force when handling objects.
  • Endurance: Able to stand for extended periods of time.
  • Manual Dexterity: Proficient in performing repetitive motions such as extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction and working primarily with fingers rather than the whole hand or arm.
  • Fine Motor Skills: Skilled in tasks involving seizing, holding, grasping, turning, or otherwise working with hand or hands.
  • Balance and Agility: Capable of maintaining body equilibrium to prevent falling on narrow, slippery, or erratically moving surfaces, as well as maintaining balance when performing agile tasks.
  • Visual Acuity: Possesses clarity of vision at 20 inches or less and 20 feet or more.
  • Footwear: Required to wear closed-toe shoes for safety purposes.
  • Repetitive Tasks: The job involves regular repetitive motions.

Scheduling Requirements
  • Head Cashiers are typically scheduled to work 10am - 6:30pm; schedule may vary.
