Meter Technician I

The Opportunity

Ulteig is seeking a highly motivated individual for the position of Meter Technician I.  Meter Technician I is an entry level position responsible for programming, installing, testing, and certifying 3 phase revenue meters.  The Meter Technician I will learn to develop and implement meter programs through on the job training and company paid professional development.  Equipment installation, site wiring verification, and troubleshooting are all day-to-day responsibilities. The Meter Technician I will ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.  

After 4 months in this role you would be eligible to enroll in a 3-year training program paid for by Ulteig.* During the training program, the successful candidate will receive on-the-job training and classroom instruction to develop the skills and knowledge necessary to become a skilled Meter Technician. Upon completion of the training program, you will receive a certificate. However, this is not a contract position and the duration of the program does not negate the at-will nature of this role.

*If accepted for the position all costs associated with the 3-year Meter Technician training program will be covered by Ulteig. Any time spent in the classroom or on any related coursework will be unpaid.

What You'll Do

• Work with others to program, install, test, troubleshoot, and certify electronic and electromechanical kWh meters and various electronic data recorders
• Work with others to review and markup Single Line and Three Line Drawings to accurately notate desired meter standards
• Basic understanding of meter programs that read revenue and real time data and account for complex system losses
• Factory Acceptance Testing of communication parameters and revenue data output of CAISO meters
• Work with others to verify the wiring and meter accuracy of commercial and utility scale revenue metering installations
• Investigate the causes of minor commercial and utility scale metering problems and make repairs
• Work with project management on various project tasks
• Work with others to assemble metering panels
• Use common, discipline-specific software
• Maintain schedules set by others and provide timely progress reports
• Provide accurate and daily accounting of time spent on projects with descriptions for each time entry
• Understands actual time required for most tasks
• Completes project work as assigned
• Occasionally works independently in the field

• Two-year technical degree or equivalent
• Experience with Microsoft Software Applications (Word, Excel, Power Point, Access) and additional software knowledge depending on specialization
• Valid driver’s license and ability to meet company driving standards
• Ability to travel nationwide for training (as needed) and to various project locations within California. Minimum 50% travel
• Must have the ability to work permanently in the US
• Attend classroom related sessions and complete all coursework as needed

Additional Opportunity Details:
Compensation Range is Generally +/- 15% of Position Mid-Point of $67,500*
