Metallurgy Technician

Overview

Element has an opportunity for a Metallurgy Technician whose primary responsibility is to perform routine, metallurgical, mechanical, failure, corrosion testing facilitating metallurgy operations at site or at a laboratory.

 

Responsibilities

• Perform routine metallurgical test preparation including cutting, mounting, polishing, using a variety of equipment
• Perform acid etching of customer samples in a variety of acid etch solutions
• Maintain proper concentrations and conditions of acid etch solutions
• Coordinate timing/scheduling of etch jobs based on backlog and promise dates
• Preparation of etch samples including grinding and/or sanding

Skills / Qualifications

• Degree/Diploma in Metallurgy or related discipline
• Minimum 2 years of experience working in a laboratory in the field of metallurgy testing
• Good knowledge on international standards and codes
• Excellent report writing skill
• Good communication skills
• Self-motivated team playing with excellent organisational and communication skills
