Metallurgy Specialist Quality Test Engineer - 29710-1

Our large manufacturing client located in Peoria, Illinois, is looking for a Metallurgy Specialist, to add to their team.
Position's Contributions to Work Group:

• Provide metallurgical guidance and project ownership to multiple value streams positively affecting PQVC in assigned areas

Typical task breakdown:
For assigned areas:

• Review and ensure metallurgical control plan conformance
• Trending and reporting of metallurgical properties
• Defect characterization and reporting
• Metallurgical casting and heat treat development
• Metallurgical PPAP documentation
• Internal and external metallurgical deviation ownership
• Metallurgical process ownership including inoculation, treatment, thermal analysis, charge materials, inspection, heat treatment, and destructive auditing

Interaction with team:

• Interact daily with management and production employees

Work environment:
Foundry, machine shop, lab, and office environments
Education & Experience Required:

• S or M.S. in Metallurgy, Materials Science, or Materials Engineering

Technical Skills
(Required)

• Understanding of ferrous metallurgy
• Exposure to foundry/casting and material characterization processes
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office products

(Desired)

• Experience in data analysis using statistical software such as Minitab
• Experience with PowerBI
• 6Sigma green belt certification

Soft Skills
(Required)

• Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
• Ability to collaborate effectively across cross-functional teams
