Position

The Metal lab technician will be a core member of the lab team and will assist with day-to-day activities including metal samples, Quality Control testing as per ISO 17025 standards, maintenance of equipment, calibration, and ordering lab supplies.

Compensation, Benefits, Schedule, and Location

· Compensation: The salary range is $26 to 28/hour + Generous Bonus

· Benefits: Paid time off, medical insurance, life insurance and short-term disability insurance is covered at 100% for the employee, vision, dental, and long-term disability insurance, and 401k employer matching up to 4% of salary

· Schedule: Regular work hours are generally 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM with flexibility

· Location: This position requires the Manufacturing Associate II to work from the production warehouse in Pompano Beach, FL.

Responsibilities:

· Prepare (acid digestion) and analyze metallurgical samples by various methods including (ICP) Inductively Coupled Plasma, (IGA) Instrumental Gas Analysis of gas-forming elements (C, H, O, N and S), XRF (X-Ray Fluorescence), acid-base titrimetry, determination of analytes by ISE, and determination of oil and moisture in materials

· Carry out analytical procedures following documented SOPs and other work instructions

• Maintain chemical analytical equipment including daily maintenance, troubleshooting, working with service engineers, maintaining databases, logs, and lab supplies
• Manage laboratory maintenance and common chemical waste handling

· Maintain inventory of supplies and parts required to ensure accurate and timely analyses of samples via assigned instrumentation

· Communicate analysis results to personnel in other departments including Production, Maintenance, and Sales

· Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

· Associate degree in chemistry, material science, or related discipline or an equivalent two years of laboratory experience and High School Diploma or GED is required

• 1-3 years of practical working experience with wet chemical analysis (ICP-OES, titration, pipetting, solution preparation, dilutions) and sample preparation is required

· Capable of carrying out careful sample preparation and chemical handling required for chemical tests using strong acid digestion, autosampler, and auto-diluters

· Able to use laboratory balances, moisture machines, drying ovens, annealing ovens, and other lab equipment

· Must have an understanding of chemical analysis data and the ability to perform data analysis

· Experience operating/troubleshooting ICP instruments is required

• Excellent organizational skills for heavy sample load/high throughput is required
• Basic math skills are required to calculate dilution factors and solution concentrations quickly and accurately

· Must have experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

· Must have a strong sense of safety, be able to work effectively both independently and in a collaborative project-focused environment

· Good verbal and written communication skills isrequired

· Great attention to detail and QA/QC (Quality Assurance/Quality Control) is required

• Ability to work with minimal supervision and prioritize a heavy workload is required
• Willingness to learn new concepts, work effectively, and unsupervised
• Experience with ISO17025 is preferred
