Job Purpose
Participate and support investigation of moderately complex quality problems/change point for internal and external customers through metallurgical evaluation including testing, failure analysis, material confirmation or other material related items.
Key Accountabilities
- Using engineering analysis and data collection to assure material conformance to spec and causes of product failure
- Manage/participate in investigations for quality problems to determine responsibility, root cause and countermeasure through failure analysis of engine components and assemblies
- Summarization and presentation of analysis results to all levels of organization and other Honda divisions
- Ability to communicate with customers and outside departments, and other regions
- Participate in plant wide projects with identified Q concerns and work with established team to help set plan to investigate Q concerns
- Support/Advise/Mentor/Lead other associates on problem analysis projects
- Establish and carry out analysis plans on powertrain problems, by utilizing engineering theory/experience and interfacing with functional experts and other department representatives for coordination of schedules and activities
- Evaluate functional impact of manufacturing process and/or specification variations
Qualifications, Experience, and Skills
- Bachelor's Degree in Material Science, Metallurgical, or Welding Engineering
- 0-6 years of experience dependent upon education level, co-op or industry with experience in lab setting preferred
- Experience in Quality, Manufacturing or Material Analysis (heat treat, casting, welding, failure analysis or related lab environment)

- ~ 5-10 hour OT / week, with need to work unexpected overtime as issues arise.
