Job Summary: Polishes and buffs steel components for columns and repairs as needed. Performs preparation work on machine parts to be sent to plater. Assists with column preparation, final finishing and cleaning of aluminum accessories. Does some sub-assembly. Cleans and assembles machine parts. De-burrs parts. Advises supervisor relative to parts quality.
Essential Functions:
•Buffs and polishes column components.
•Repairs column components as needed.
•Performs preparation work on machine parts to be sent to plater.
•Select abrasives according to materials, sizes, and shapes of workpieces, finishes specified, and steps in finishing processes.
•De-burrs parts, as needed.
•Performs maintenance to equipment and records it as needed.
•Conducts Quality checks as required for ISO 9001:2015.
•Verify quality of finished work pieces by inspecting, comparing to templates, measuring dimensions, and/or surface roughness.
•Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
•Ability to operate polishing and buffing equipment in a safe manner.
•Knowledge of polishing and grinding steel.
•Ability to assemble and disassemble components.
•Ability to multi-task.
•Good eye for detail.
•Ability to produce quality product in a productive manner.
Working Conditions: Shop environment. Involves standing and sitting. May involve stooping, reaching, lifting, pushing and pulling, and chemical exposure to lacquer thinner. Involves exposure to buffing residue, sparks, and dust.
Tools and/or Equipment Used: Operates buffing equipment. Uses a variety of hand tools. May run other production-related equipment.
Minimum Qualifications:
•High School diploma or equivalent.
•Six months previous experience in shop setting.
•Previous knowledge of metal materials.
•Preferred previous buffing and polishing experience.
Success Factors:
•Ability to perform quality buffed and polished surfaces on parts.
•Ability to operate required machinery and equipment utilizing all safety requirements.
•Ability to problem solve.
•Ability to identify where buffing and polishing processes may be improved.
•Ability to perform quality inspections.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $16.00 - $23.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
