Mentor/Tutor

The Academic Talent Search program at Canisius University seeks part-time Mentors and Tutors for the Day Program as well as the Extended Day program during the 2023 - 2024 academic school year.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Support all aspects of the Academic Talent Search Program
  • Consider program goals and expectations when working with students
  • Provide tutoring to ATS students during the Day Program or Extended Day program

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • College enrollment or degree
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Self-motivated
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Willingness to be flexible and creative
  • Strong support of goals of the Academic Talent Search Program
  • Ability to take initiative for and be accountable for a wide range of responsibilities
  • Strong communication skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Sufficient knowledge to tutor high school students in an academic area
  • Background or current studies in counseling, ELA,  Math, Science, or a related field
  • Desire to work with and relate to underserved student populations
  • Demonstrated experience tutoring or counseling high school students
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Must be able to work a flexible hourly schedule

Compensation and Benefits:

Salary: $40.00 per hour 

Please note that the compensation information is a good faith estimate of the base pay for this position. The selected candidate's actual base pay will be based on job-related, non-discriminatory factors including experience.  Information about the total compensation package  for this position will be provided during the interview process.
