Job description

SUMMARY:
Educare of Lincoln (Educare Lincoln) is a collaborative partnership between Lincoln Public Schools, University of Nebraska-Lincoln and the Buffett Early Childhood Fund. The mission of Educare is to promote school readiness by enhancing the social and cognitive development of children ages 0 to 5 through the provision of evidence-based education, health, nutritional, social and other services to enrolled children and their families.
The Mentor Teacher/Intern Coach (Coach) is responsible for facilitating full and effective implementation of Educare Lincoln's Core Features and evidence-based instructional practices to continuously improve teaching and learning with the aim of accelerating children's learning, development and school readiness outcomes. The Coach provides teacher leadership in 1) the design, delivery and coordination of intensive professional development; 2) in education program development; 3) facilitation of interdisciplinary collaboration; and 4) administrative support.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND KEY TASKS:
  • Provide ongoing supervision and leadership to the full cohort of up to five Interns.
  • Support Interns through their onboarding and new-hire orientation.
  • Guide and coach the Interns through the successful completion of their CDA.
  • Provide career support to the Interns upon the successful completion of their internship program.
  • Work collaboratively with fellow staff to advance the mission of Educare Lincoln.
  • Maintain professional knowledge by attending educational workshops, furthering job related post-secondary education and/or reviewing professional publications.
  • Participate in reflective supervision with primary supervisor.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Associate degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Special Education, Education, or closely related field.
  • At least one year of experience facilitating the professional growth of at least one other adult employee.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred in Early Childhood Education, Education, Educational Leadership or Elementary Administration and Supervision.
  • At least five years of experience working in Early Childhood Education or Elementary Education.
  • Experience working in a center-based Early Childhood Program, NAEYC Accreditation or a program similar in rigor preferred.
  • At least one year of supervisory experience preferred.
  • Must be able to pass a background check that meets compliance standards.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS/ABILITIES REQUIRED:
  • Knowledge of local, state and national requirements and standards for child care programs serving children aged birth through 5 years.
  • Able to schedule and conduct verification visits during normal operating hours of early childhood programs.
  • Knowledge of principles and best practices of early childhood education and family engagement.
  • Knowledge of childcare state licensing requirements.
  • Knowledge of basic principles and practices of program management and staff supervision.
  • Ability to lead a team of professionals.
  • Ability to utilize and provide reflective supervision.
  • Ability to form an alliance with staff and families on behalf of children.
  • Ability to effectively communicate, verbally and in writing, in a manner that demonstrates and
  • fosters cooperation, respect, concern and openness to change.
  • Familiarity with community culture and knowledge of community resources and services.
  • Ability to take, or think about, the perspective of others and demonstrate self-awareness of
  • one's own culture, beliefs and values.
  • Organization skills with the ability to manage time and multiple priorities.
  • Ability to collaboratively problem-solve.
  • Maintain boundaries and performs all duties in an ethical and professional manner.
  • Ability to obtain First Aid and CPR certification.
