Work Shifts Tour II: 9:00 A.M - 5:00 P.M Job Description PURPOSE OF POSITION Under the direction of a behavior analyst and in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team, performs patient observation data collection, and/or behavior modification interventions, engagements, client supervision and other behavioral health related duties. Acts in compliance with corporate, hospital and all relevant regulatory policies.

SUMMARY OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Performs observations and monitoring of assigned patients in the therapeutic milieu, while conducting behavioral assessments. Reports observations to BST behavior analysts. Engages, interacts and assists with working with patients in a therapeutic milieu and with a behavioral modification approach (with an emphasis on patients identified as high risk).

Reports observations, interactions and client activity to assigned behavior analyst. Helps identify high risk patients and uses Crisis Intervention practices and alternative intervention techniques to maintain a safe environment. Understands patient characteristics, triggers and other patient/environmental variables in order to assist in preventing patients from losing control.

Fosters positive role model for patients, families, visitors, and staff. Assists in training unit staff in the interventions developed by the BST. Reviews charts and incident reports as needed to identify possible preventable factors and present these to the BST and treatment team.

Participates in group supervision and case conferences. Communicates clinical matters to assigned Behavior analyst or other professional staff as required. Work with unit-based team to prevent and de-escalate crises to ensure a safe environment.

Enters data in Excel spread sheet and assists in creating graphs depicting progress of behavioral interventions. Assists in training HCPPA staff members. Preparing weekly observation packages for HCPPA staff members.

Demonstrates knowledge of emergency procedures, fire safety, evacuation procedures, and internal/external disaster plan and procedures. Participates in quality assurance/performance improvement activities and departmental and/or facility-wide training as required. Minimum Qualifications Assignment Level I 1.

A valid License or Limited Permit issued by the New York State Education Department to practice as a Mental Health Counselor. Assignment Level II 1. A valid License issued by the New York State Education Department to practice as a Mental Health Counselor; and 2.

Two years of full-time, paid, professional experience providing direct client care in a behavior health setting. Assignment Level III In addition to meeting the requirements for Assignment Levels II, Assignment Level III requires: 1. Three additional years of post-licensure experience.

Special Note: The administration of assessment and screening instruments does not include the administration or interpretation of Intelligence (IQ) tests, Projective tests, or Neuropsychological tests or instruments. Department Preferences Experience with research or data collection. Familiar with Microsoft office programs such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc.

An associate degree or higher preferred.
