Job Requisition: Mental Health Technician

Location: Cherry Hill, NJ

Summary:

Mental Health Technicians (MHTs) play a vital role as integral members of the students' care team, offering direct support to those facing mental illness, emotional distress, or behavioral challenges hindering academic success. Services are provided within the school setting.

  1. Monitor and Assess Mental Health:
    • Evaluate students' mental status, behavior, and mood.
  2. Implement Treatment Plans:
    • Execute treatment plans directed by Mental Health professionals.
  3. Provide Emotional Support:
    • Offer emotional support and guidance, assisting students in applying coping mechanisms and managing symptoms.
  4. Document Student Progress:
    • Maintain detailed records of student progress and observations in clinical documentation.
  5. Ensure Safety and Therapeutic Environment:
    • Uphold a safe and therapeutic environment, de-escalate crisis situations, and prioritize overall safety.
  6. Collaborate with Care Team:
    • Effectively collaborate with team members, including administrators, educators, clinical social workers, and counselors.
  7. Participate in Professional Development:
    • Engage in ongoing training and professional development to stay abreast of best practices in Mental Health care.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Education, Psychology, or Social Work.
  • Certification: Certification as a Mental Health Technician (MHT), Certified Psychiatric Aide (CNA), or a related credential is preferred.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Strong interpersonal and communication skills, fostering rapport and trust with students.
  • Observational Skills: Excellent observational and assessment skills.
  • Compassion: Compassionate and empathetic nature, driven by a genuine desire to help others.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong problem-solving and conflict resolution skills.
  • Team Collaboration: Ability to work effectively as part of a team and follow instructions.
  • Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail, ensuring accurate record-keeping.
  • Physical Stamina: Physical stamina and the ability to perform some lifting and bending.
