New Mexico BioPark Society – Membership Services Associate
New Mexico BioPark Society (NMBPS), the nonprofit support organization for the ABQ BioPark Zoo, Aquarium, Botanic Garden, and Tingley Beach, has two openings (one full-time and one seasonal), hourly positions, working up to 40 hours per week in the Membership Department. The Membership Services Associate plays a key role in the organization from greeting members and assisting members, recruiting and selling memberships, to data entry and membership fulfillment.
Minimum requirements: Must have a high school diploma and two years of customer service experience. Candidates must have proficient computer skills with Microsoft Word and Excel; have exceptional people skills; be detail-oriented with the ability to multi-task, prioritize, stay organized in a fast-paced environment; and work weekends, holidays and some evenings.

Duties:
- Greeting customers, members, potential members and donors, and general public.
- Provide exceptional internal and external customer service.
- Responsible for selling and renewing memberships as well as processing all transactions.
- Respond to customer walk-ins, calls, and e-mail correspondence accordingly in a professional and timely fashion.
- Willingness to learn all facets of the BioPark facilities, keeping abreast of all events, promotions, openings and the ability to communicate this to visitors.
- Obtain and evaluate all relevant information to respond to customer feedback, inquiries and complaints.
- Responsible for accurate data entry and membership fulfillment.
- Maintain superior integrity of data, security, and enhancements of the NMBPS databases.
- Opening and closing the ABQ BioPark Zoo membership office.
- Provide direction for smooth entry into the ABQ BioPark.
- Participate in NMBPS activities and events as required.
- Contact new members by phone to welcome them to the membership program.
- Manage lines and multiple customers during busy times in a fast-paced environment.
- Work as a team with both Society and ABQ BioPark personnel.
- Back-up Lead Associate.
- All other responsibilities and tasks, as assigned by the Membership Director or NMBPS Director.
Qualifications:
Minimum
· High school diploma. Some college or degree preferred. Two years customer services and two years experience working with a database a plus.
· Strong data entry skills with emphasis on accuracy in a timely manner
· Must be professional and have a positive, friendly, social disposition.
· Exceptional people skills. Ability to enthusiastically greet customers with a smile and maintain a pleasant, outgoing and friendly attitude at all times.
· Willing to ask questions to determine needs and support goals.
· Demonstrates attention to detail and ability to multi-task.
· Possesses excellent verbal and written communication skills.
· Proficient computer skills; knowledgeable with Word, Excel and Data Base entry and management.
· Demonstrates ability to tactfully handle stressful situations, negotiate and resolve conflicts, maintain confidentiality and to respect and observe organizational protocol.
· Demonstrate ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of NMBPS and BioPark staff as well as diverse volunteers, donors, community partners, and others.
· Able to work flexible work schedule and adjust as required. Must be available to work weekends, holidays and some evenings.
· Must have the ability to think quickly and identify solutions to customer service issues.
· Must be reasonable, diplomatic and use common sense to make sound decisions.
· Must have reliable transportation and a valid NM drivers license. May be required to use personal vehicle during employment
· Able to lift at least 30 pounds
Preferred
· Familiarity with Tessitura software a plus.
Working Conditions
· Regular work schedule will include designated weekdays, all weekends as well as may be required to work occasional evenings, early-mornings and holidays.
· Most work is indoors although the position requires some work outdoors with exposure to seasonal weather conditions for sales, special events, tours, openings, etc.
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Temporary
Pay: $15.00 - $16.00 per hour
Expected hours: 30 – 40 per week
