Are you interested in a career in fast-paced environment? Hagyard Equine Medical Institute’s McGee Medical Center is seeking to fill multiple positions for Veterinary Technicians. The McGee Medicine Center is a full-service, critical-care equine hospital that operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year and specializes in the critical care and medical treatment of horses of all ages.
Veterinary technicians at the McGee Medical Center assist our veterinarians with various exams and procedures and are integral members of our patient care team.
The primary role and duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Monitoring patient wellbeing such as obtaining vital signs and other patient parameters
- Assist with patient treatments including administering medications as prescribed by the attending veterinarian, both accurately and in a timely manner (IM, IV, SQ, PO, etc.)
- Provide patient treatments based on veterinarian instructions
- Maintain accurate patient charts and document observations
- Assist veterinarians with procedures which include endoscopy, ultrasound and reproductive exams, radiographs, IV catheter placement, stomach tube placement
- Providing hay, feed and water to patients as directed.
- Restocking and maintaining a clean and well-organized treatment area
- Assist with after-hours admissions, including answering phones and obtaining patient and owner information from clients.
- Monitoring IV fluid therapy protocols including use of CRI pumps
- Providing intensive nursing care to foals in the NICU
- Opportunities for continuous on the job training
- Other projects and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Ability to lift 50-75 lbs
- Ability to restrain adult horses
- Equine experience
- Excellent communicator
- Willingness to receive continuous on-the-job training

Schedule:
- 8-hour and 10-hour shift options as well as flexible schedules
- Evening shift/Night shift (shift differential for both)
- Overtime (if desired)
- Weekend availability
Education:
- High school or equivalent (Preferred)
Experience:
- Veterinary Technician/Assistant:1 year (Preferred)
- Equine: 1+ year (Preferred)
License/Certification:
- Driver's License (Required)
